Wilson's Mom called today...

Got a call from Wilson's mom this morning & great news ! She was very happy to tell me Wilson's surgery to close up the stump via a skin graft went very well, & he will in fact get to keep the top of the (tibia?) bone & not loose it to the hip after all. Apparently they got the infection under control. Thus, he will be able to get prosthesis eventually; although she said he is still "in & out a lot," but has a much better outlook these days when awake.

She says one of the biggest things that's keeping his sprits up is the hospital room wall is covered with the "get well soon" cards & letters of support that many of us sent. I guess the sheer volume of letters was surprising to all; & the staff there is now treating him as some kind of celebrity. Great stuff to hear eh'? Great family folks...

Best wishes to Mom & the family...& Get well soon Wilson!

Dave

Chris was kind enough to take many cards & letters to him. Chris you might want to let us know if this is still ok. If so the address is below.

I'm also going to call Wendy & see what the latest is; & if there is a better alternative as I believe either Wendy or Mom sees him daily...

Wendy's cell #. Call her 248-396-8135

I have his address at home now, not here at work. If you want to mail it to me at the address Dave posted above, by all means go ahead and I will get them to him. I am on vacation all next week, but plan on making a trip to see Wilson when I return so send anything to want to my adress and I will take it to him then.

Saw Wilson Yesterday

He was doing much better then when I saw him about a week ago. Was in much better spirits too, and Wow!- those cards sure filled the room! Was a really nice poem by someone - think it was a friend of Ken's?

But his condition is still critical, and his daughter Wendy was saying that the doctors were telling them that they see thousands of such cases as Wilsons, and almost most never make it, and that they were surprised at Wilson's resilience.

His graft went well, but is supposed to be the most painful part of this ordeal.

Wilson's family is really happy at all the cards and get well wishes pouring in.

Wilson Update!!!

He is doing Much, Much better than when we first saw him. I took my gimpself up to the hospital to see him on Saturday(22nd).

Wilson was worried about me so I made a suprise visit.

He was talking and seemed much more aware/alive. They think that he will be able to be moved to a rehabilitation center in a week or so. This will start the road to recovery. Up until this point he really has just been fighting for life!!!!

It was so cool walking into his room and seeing the number of cards and letters all over the wall.....Too awesome, It has really lifted his spirits!!!! Thanks to everyone that has sent cards and get well wishes!!!
