Engine damage while using "fuel".
Lately I've known of several engines coming apart and all have been using VP MR1 or Nutech. I am NOT saying this is the cause but curiosity has got me asking around.
Has anybody that "lost" an engine please respond here if you were using either of these fuels. I understand that since they are oxygenated they can make an engine lean out but I am wondering about using them in a bike that has a map for pump fuel. Any comments or questions are welcomed. Thanks,

Like I would know what I'm talking about...
... but I have run VP C-12 in a varity of ratios from 25% to 90% C-12. At all 3 Gap events, I ran a mix of C-12. Of course, you've also seen how I ride. I'd hardly call it "hard" riding either.
Also C-12 is nothing like MR1 or Nutech and C-12 has been proven to have little to no performance benefit to it (besides "chalking" the tailpipe). I don't know what it's oxygen or lead content is, but I do know that it is "slightly leaded".

I used 100% VP-MR1 fuel in my 12 and even enrichend it, as a result I burned #4 piston w/ a lean condition. Now that I have the 1270 kit , I will never run special fuel again.

I used VP C16 at Maxton for standing start one mile speed runs with no problems that I am yet aware of.. 202.593 MPH

You need to map the bike for the fuel you intend to run. Race fuel usually requires bigger jets and or more fuel in the map on injected bikes.
A little race gas now and then doesn't hurt. For the record, with the exception of extremely modified race engines, we have consistantly seen a bigger horsepower gain out of 50/50 premium unleaded/race gas than straight race gas. We have also noticed significant deposits on the valves on bikes using leaded race fuels.
Nutec/premium unleaded, 50/50 works pretty well.

00' ZX12R w/Arka, Muzzy Fan, & K&N's, Dymags only.
"ERC" 100 octane unleaded; testing for Bonneville (required gas.)
Bike seems to run "smoother" & idled better (no "loaping" or some call it "idle-hunting" or "bootstrapping"); but no increase in HP felt by da butt dyno.
Fan didn't run anymore than usual; & it only runs w/stopped in traffic @ long stoplights on a hot day, or when coming out of the mountains after a hard ride on a very hot day (97'.)
Not worth the bux unless I'm racing...then I might...

Yea I agree... thats where the yosh box comes in.
One map for the pump fuel and another map for MR-1 etc.
I'd stay away from the Fuels that are designed for large bore automotive and aircraft engines. The flame front speeds on some of those fuels is not suited for 12,000 rpm engines.
Stick with the fuels designed for the bikes and get a map made for it.

Nutec made my mixture a bit richer, mixed with Mikunis anyway. Does the EMS lead to the leanness?
