zx12r oil problem

2002 zx12r-leaking oil somewhere on the top of the motor, running down on the coolant side..any ideas, only after hard runs

A guess would be to check the cam position sensor and the cam cover gasket.And just for shits and giggles,check the oil filter for snugness.You never know sometimes with that air blowing oil everywhere.

Yea, I had the cam sensor leak and now the valve cover gasket. My guess is the hard runs do not allow for proper crankcase ventilation as it vents into the airbox. At speed your pressurizing the airbox which I am sure counters the crankcase trying to vent against the pressure in the airbox. The result.... oil leaks....

My theory....

Most people never think if that! I am going to use some Clutch Shims to increase presure on the Valve Cover. The rubber seals under the Bolts get older and thinner and less pressure on the Gasket easier leaking!
