More engine oil.
Hi ppl,
i seen in some threads that some of our brothers here cut their oil pan so as to lower the bike height if i am not wrong or for other purposes. Do they still use 2.8 litires of engine oil with filter change for their mod oil pan? I am presently using roughly 2.8 litres of engine oil with filter change for my ride but i used to pour in 3.5 litres and the bike seems more quiet esp the left cam chain side or rather the overall engine sound more quiet. Now when i try with 2.8 litres as stated in the manual, the cam chain side seems must louder. So my question to all is it not advisable to pour in more engine oil than required or it is okie to do so.

Do not run more OR less than specified. More will slow you down and make a mess. Less will make a bigger mess when you put a rod through the cases.
Follow the manual unless you have a specifically modified oil system.
Your chain may seem quieter because it is covered with too much oil but this is NOT good.

hit upon this thread. No wonder my workshop guy always pour for me 3.5, coz he also tot the oil level will hit middle very fast. There is something abt drilling a hole to make the oil level go up faster when the bike is levelled.anyone gt any pics to show that mod?

That mod is only for the 2000 model. Is that what you have? Other years dont need it.

nope, i do not use that mod, but am curious about how much oil shld be poured in with a smaller oil pan.

I think the key is the swivel for the pick up. Mad Mike has some nice ones.
