Starter problems

A few of us zx-12 owners over on easy's site are having the same problem with our bikes, I do not know about theirs but mine has a pc3r on it, here is the problem: bike turns over normal, then real slow like the battery is dead, and then jumps back to normal, has anyone experienced this? if so what did you do too fix it?

Starter problems

I have the same problem. PC3R with full Muzzy on a 2000. The problem seems to be intermittant. I have been tuning the fuel map a fair bit recently and it hasn't done it in a while. The starter seems to drag as if it is binding or the battery is low and then suddenly it kicks in like normal. I wondered if it has anything to do with the PC3R affecting fuel enrichment at startup causing a momentary compression lock ???? I have noticed that it rarely happens when starting cold. It is usually on a warm start.

Hell, my bike is as stock as they come and it happened to me at Gap3. In the AM on the first start it would drrraaaaaggggg the first few button presses and then spin and fire fine after a few more attempts. Dunno...

Sounds like the starter isnt getting enough amps.
There are several battery connections on the 12r.
I'd pull the battery out of its hangar and check ALL the connections.

starter ?

This seems to be a very common problem, showing up on modified as well as completely stock bikes. One idea posted was to be sure your fuel pump had run, pressurized and shut off before hitting the starter button. Another idea thrown out was that it may be a poor OEM quality starter relay. Whatever it is, many people have complained about this.
