Welllll,

I may be a new guy here, but I have to say that I have seen lots of bikes go down to cars. I used to have a video of a turbo'd LS1 that pulls on a GSXR-1000 until he shuts it down at about 160...we're talking not even close. Go to the Supra forum and do a search for "video" and check out all the Supras destroying sportbikes of all types...I'm sure they're still there.

I would assume that a Viper with 524rwhp (nearly 600 at the crank)would have very similar power/weight ratios as a CBR 929, not to mention how peaky the power delivery is on the 929's. At those speeds, the superior aerodynamics of the Viper would come into play as well.

Also, in the first line of his post he says "Well, maybe I'm a little overzealous." I take that to mean he doesn't think he'd be able to smoke a 'busa, or a 12 for that matter.

I do take offense at the guy who says that his old-school zx-11 would outrun and outhandle the 12, "stroked and jetted" or no. I find it difficult to believe he's even been on one. He's probably just feeling a little Napoleonic since he bought a 9r to replace his 11.

Being quite familiar with both the Viper and the 12. The Viper has zero chance against the 12 in a street type drag race or a low speed roll on. The Viper is an out and out horsepower monster without any real traction! That is part of the fun driving it. Cruising along at 30 you can drop the hammer and literally go through the gears and a set of tires in about the length of the car or the length of the entire street! Burn out upon demand and usually without demand. Now a 120 or above roll on, the situation will start to take on a different perspective. Depending on what he really has in his viper he will kick the 12's ass to 200.

And of course you get to listen to the stereo in the Viper with a blonde setting next to you!!

Whelp. I'm by no means a drag racer - but I've NEVER been "pulled" by a viper. NEVER. Several (prolly 2 or 3) have tried, but the 12 just puts them away (all I have is a Muzzy and a PC-IIIr too). Maybe the drivers were not that good, but then again, I'm a sucky 1/4 miler too .

viper vs bike

I have never ever seen a viper beat a bike at the strip here the best the vipers run is low 12s about what a six hundred does against anything else they are slow. I bet that a viper would top end a 929 or R1 as they will go 187 in stock trim but no chance against a Busa or 12. I would love to run my 207hp Busa against a viper I am sure the viper would be left for dead.......................

driver/rider skill is everything!

I have seen and rode behind several car/motorcycle races and have witnessed a few corvettes & porsche eat bikes. These bikes were not 600's either. Last year I saw a porsche eat a GSXR 1000. It wasn't pretty and it sure looked liked the GSXR was tring but it was too easy for me to stay behind them. I really don't think the GSXR was using all it could. The rider must not have had much riding experience, imo. I stayed back and just watched. It got left behind by several car lengths between 130mph~160mph. I'm sure that guy went and told all his friends/family how he beat a GSXR 1000 for several days to follow.

bike vs car

On motorcyclist tv about 2 weeks ago they had bikevscar the gsxr1000 against 406hp corvette. The gixer kicked the cars butt it was 8 seconds faster at willow springs and it accelerated to 100mph and braked to zero before the corvette reached 100 mph. So a bad rider can be beaten by a car but a good rider and the car has no chance........

though looking at the numbers boasted ont he boards and the admission at bottom of page: "bone stock bikes vs highly modded vipers"

apples and oranges.

like taking a turbo 600 with nitrous and saying "see it can beat an r1" when there are no similar mods on the r1.

but remember, quickest way to aperson's heart is by appealing to 1. their self interest, and 2. their ego.

or in other terms, penis envy.....

;P

it WAS entertaining to read the arguments onthat board about who's cac was bigger....

Hmmm...I wouldnt call this guy a cager though. I've always felt a cager is that guy who bumps your moto on the road. The moto goes down obviously, the cager drives on. Too much road rage out there.

That link got me to reading around that Viper forum...now I really want one even worse than before. I saw the 2003 concept one in Minneapolis at the International Car Show...and it was hella cool. I'll take two please.

car vs bike

It takes close to a hundred grand to make a viper run even close to Busa or 12 and the price of the bike is 11 grand so who looks smart and who looks stupid as far as bang for the buck.....................
