trans wear from dragging

Lately I was occaisonally hearing a clunking/clanking in 2nd when running 1/4; not all the time. Anyone else hearing this????

My bike has 430 WOT passes, 143 with 1361 kit.

I'm having the motor tweaked with billet crank, cams, etc and it got torn down last week.

The builder says that the shift drum, forks, and dogs that engage the drum are showing medium wear, enough that he is replacing. The gears are fine.

Apparently the clanking was coming from incomplete engagement in 2nd. Anyway, its good to catch early.

Wow, that was a lot of runs! What part of the country do you live in? I'm lucky to get four runs on a test 'n tune day, and maybe three on eliminations day!

swft,
I am in Houston, with a really good 1/4 mi NHRA track an hour away to the east, and a regional 1/8 mi track and hour to the west. Since I don't have the balls anymore to do RR, I only race the 1/4 mile .

I have been following the development of yr 1347 and 1270 for better than a year with great interest. Also, you seem to be on the leading edge of mounting the Muzzy box.

I am VERY interested in your experience with the Muzzy box, because I'd like to use it to take the redline of my soon-to-be 1375 from 11.6 to 12.6 or so. I figure the Lee's cams will give it the air, and the billet crank will take the strain. vamos a ver.... keep us posted with your developments.

PS: when are you going to Bonneville???????

This upcoming weekend will be occupied with roadracing, but hopefully I can get started on running the harness and mounting everything up after that. So in two weeks time, I should be able to post a report with pics. I'm really excited to see what it can do as well! The extended rpm capability might be just the trick for my Bonneville runs.

I haven't noticed any clanking but sometimes I think I may have a slightly bent shift fork. 3rd gear is just troublesome anymore. Can't hit it like I did last year.

Go ahead and download the software, you don't have to have the hardware to take a look

gerard,
i am replacing the 1361 stroker with the 1375 billet; not cause the 1361 has anything wrong with it (seems to be perfect after 140 passes), but because I want a little higher compression (0,6 mm longer stroke) and to try higher rpm with Lees cams. MMike has 1st dibs on the 1361 crank, but if he changes his mind you are next
