9.71 @ 146

So yesterday, I didn't ride at all...Let Zhooligan and Necromancer take the bike down the track. Zhooligan had no probs breaking into the nines, with a 9.97 and 9.93 run. Then Necromancer took a couple runs on it, and managed a 9.84! Not bad! A third friend who weighs the least of any of us got on the bike, and just couldn't get a handle on the bike. His best run was 10.28. That was a total of six runs in one day, which for our neck of the wooods, is pretty good... Today, I did two dial in runs, the first one I missed the first-second gear shift, and ran a 10.05. Second run, I launched at 9500 rpm, banged the shift, carried the front end through second, and ripped off a 9.71 second quarter mile. It was pretty cool, I didn't even get yelled at! I went up against the points leader in eliminations, and he whacked me pretty easily after I tried to squeeze the light and left .009 seconds too early...So my day was done, and my brief foray into drag racing was pretty much done as well. Got the bike home, pulled the bars off, yanked the strut, drag slick and stuck the shock back in. Raised the front end back up and called it good. Took it around the block, felt just like a 12.

Bremerton, video, pictures and I believe an option for the sequel! We had a good time. I even had a 1.49 60 foot time on Necro's bone stock 12.

Etropy - No, you're not missing anything. I have made a total of ... maybe 18 runs down the quarter mile. Zhooligan hasn't made that many more, and neither has Necromancer. So ya see, none of us are claiming to be fucking experienced at this. What should be apparent is that I have a 12 that anyone can do a 9 second quarter mile on. And someone like Cowboy could prolly do an 8 second quarter mile. So hey, guess what? I never claimed to be some kind of fucking drag racing god, just wanted to share the good times I had, and my plans for the future. If I wanted a drag bike, I'd prolly build a frame for a real drag bike, instead of monkeying around on a 12.

cool yer jets, swft, I am not dissing you, rather I was just wondering why a stroker with bars and slick is not pushing 8's... You told me, end of story.

"If I wanted a drag bike, I'd prolly build a frame for a real drag bike..."

uh, a bike with 200hp+, bars, slick, prolly qualifies as a "drag bike", eh???

Entropy,

I have ridden Sfts wheelie bar equiped 12 with the slick a total of four (4) passes. 10.01, 10.12 and two weeks later, 9.97 and a 9.93. This is the first and only time I have ridden a bike with bars, lowered and a lock up clutch. No clue how it all even worked. So actually I am pretty happy with whole thing.

I could go faster if the damn bike was better equipped, had more horsepower etc. Or more likely the bike would do a lot better with a beter rider and one weighing a hundred pounds less than myself!

Have we got yet another candidate for TFA????? Welcome aboard, pull up a bar stool, grab yrself a pitcher o' beer and a platter of Hooters wings w/3 mile island sauce!!!

Hey you guys, I have admired swif's, almost nut-case, devotion to speed stuff for a long time. If you guys are out there trying bars, 1347, 1270, etc with only your enthusiasm to guide you; hats off to you. I only wish I could come out and join yr fun

Nice runs!

Sounds like you guys had a good time at the track You must be one helluva guy to let your buds rip your bike down the strip, but then again me n my friends do the chinese firedrill at stop signs every once in a while, it must be perty funny lookin. Are you planning on doing the roadrace up here at mission raceway? there should be one coming up pretty quick. I was thinking of taking my R6 down the strip to see if I can still launch like I used to...in my young and foolish days I used to race my 86 gixxer every other friday night at the illegal street drags and beat quite a few dudes on 1100's but after frying a couple of clutches and sharing my launching technique with my buds it wasn't as much fun,lol that and being chased by the cops. That was the first and last time I ever ran, I was lucky to get away but I just about killed myself doing it! So I've gone legit and haven't recieved a speeding ticket in years.
not that I don't ride fast I just know where and when to do it. Jumpin

There'd have to be a really strong factor for me to come up to Canada. I'm not fond of all the hassles I've got since I had to travel up there on business.

That's too bad Swft

Yeah I know, ever since the 9/1/1 thing it's been a hassle both ways crossing the boarder. So when's the next race at the new and improved SIR? or is it just Seattle raceway now?
I saw the pics and the extra run off area is a added bonus! I've been trying to hook up with the people this side of the boarder from bikeland but no one seems to respond or even post anymore...must be the good weather we've been having, well up to these past few days at least. We had one helluva thunder and lightning storm last night, it even had my big wolf/shepard all freaked out. Anyway with all this free time on my hands it shouldn't be a problem to get down your way for a few races even if I have to cage it, plus the doc says I can start using my arm a lil bit now so I'll see if I can drive my honda i.e. it's a 5spd.
Later Jumpin

Cool. I need friends that will let me ride their bikes down the strip. Karl? lol One thing I can say about drag racing, the more you go, the better you get. I've been going for a while now and I still keep on improving in some areas. I still suck overall but I have lots of fun.
