Hey Swft, Ive got a friend who builds dragbike frames, and He will definatly be interested in your broken cases. let me know what you will want for them when you get the motor torn apart. thanks and good luck on the rebuild, It looked like the end cap came off of the rod? did that happen? if the rod would have broke right away, Im not sure if you would have felt the vibration? but then Im not a pro in that area? great pix's lets have more from the teardown...

Swft,
I'd be interested in seeing the rod if you don't mind(forensics, you know). I'm sure yours is the highest mileage "race" 12 out there.

That was my 12...

I rode in with about 30 other bikes. We all met at Dicks Suzuki in Spokane for a sportbike breakfast and rode over there together (but not before buzzing the local Harley shop that had a similar ride that day). I had the Tourmaster bags on it to carry my junk. Not very sporty, but functional. I'll try to get over there for the next race. I like that track and the view the fans get from the bleachers. All I need now is some good weather!

Cool. I've got a couple nibbles out there for motors, so maybe I can get this thing back together in time for the NW Endurance races.

Thanks Larry,
Kudos on the save. That happened to me at 195 on the salt with my ZX-11 in '97. The bike didn't lock up but there was oil EVERWHERE including my visor. When I (finally)got stopped, I could barely stand up 'cause my boots were soaked. I was experimenting with lower oil levels to eek out the last 1/2 a hp. Let's be careful out there.......

Good morning Doug,

Hopefully, I'll have a line on a motor. Looks like the cylinder can be saved, and the crank went off to SpudGuy yesterday afternoon. Got a set of cases laying around?

The forces inside that motor must have been powerful to cause that damage swft. Glad you saved the bike man, kudos on the riding.

Red 12's rule? Of course I disagree as I have the faster green one. But perhaps Sfts red 12 didn'tike being painted black! Obviously not a rolling stones fan!!

Hey Swft, how did that 12 feel sliding at 150??

Kawachan - WFO12's 12 is gonna get picked up by a scrapper in IL. When the scrapper gets it, he's gonna let me know how much for the motor.

Cool. I took pics of the head today, so my mecahnic is going to e-mail them to Doug M and see if it can be repaired or not. Doesn't look like it can to me.....but I ain't exactly a "wrench" anyway!!

Yah, I know what you mean...I leave that stuff to the experts. I'm lucky in having Mike V. close by, as he knows who to go to for anything. An example would be the crank - it's going to SpudGuy, who is now doing the cranks for Muzzy, as I understand. And the cylinder block is going to another place that says it's no sweat.

Guesstimate

Good Idea.....Rod bolt stretch is unheard of w/ the stock rods even in the Nitrus and Turbo'd drag bikes that Ricky Gadson runs. This is begining to turn into an ugly rumor!
