How does everyone do the quarter mile?
In regards to racing the quarter mile...
Does everyone finish it in 3rd gear, or do you kick it to 4th before the end of it all?
Not what Kawasaki says...but what should I expect for a quarter mile run (my bike is in pure stock form)?

Should be in 4th. Best I ever got totally stock (height, tyres, exhaust...STOCK!) was 10.1 @ 144.

Mine had a pipe on it and K&N's 10.29@136 going through just shifting into fourth. No strap or lowered

Yeap, I was in the top of forth on my ZX12R! I ran 9.90 but I did have a couple mods.
If you are a newbie to racing, I would expect low ten's on your stock bike. If you are really good, you could get it down to mid 9.5's. and if you are just freaking awesome like Ryan Schnitz.....Low Nines!!!!

mine is -1T up front and I get almost exactly 4 grs in the 1/4 mile.
If you can help it, it's best to try *not* to shift just before the end. Going deep into redline territory is ok as long as you don't hit the limiter before the finish line.

*grins* Thanks. That was my 'anyone can do a 9 second quarter mile' video. Ie; inexperienced rider, old nasty track surface...Just put enough horsepower behind it, and away you go!

I ran a 12.27 but that was on my ZX-11 at an alt. of 4300 feet.
