FI code

I've been having an idle, low end issue thats been kicking my ass.In both 1 and 2 modes for diagnostic,It just blinks continually nonstop, short blinks.Anyone have a clue what this means? I can't find anything in the manual.I stopped counting at 70 blinks without pause.

In looking at the 2002 ECU software I did find a place in the code where it looks like the FI LED flashes constantly but it only does it in a condition where the bike wouldn't even run (all 4 injectors and all 4 coils open circuit) In other words I got nothing.

All I can suggest is to disconnect both plugs from the ECU or the battery terminal to totally power it down and reset it and clear the Error codes and try it again.

If it does the same thing I would try to find a known good ECU to borrow and swap it out and see what happens.

I just got off the phone with the dealer and they never heard of that flashing.Mind you the bike runs like a bear with the throttle position sensor bumped up.I just would rather have it right.I was thinking of doing next what Ridgeracer said just to see if the codes get cleared.Funny you mention about the coils as they were off to check the compression.

Unplug white connector behind battery cover, then reconnect. You will hear a click in the gauge cluster at reset.

You had to power the system to turn over the engine. Seems like you did this while the coils were unplugged. The ECU will shut them down if it cannot see them.

Same with the injectors.

I'll try it,but what is the difference between disconnecting the white connector and disconnecting the ecu?Either way the power is opened. Is there something in the gage cluster that needs to reset?

Curious if anyone has tried the self-diagnostic mode after having the ECU modified for extended rpm's?I'm just trying to rule things out.

Usually the flashing means that you have to pull the code to determine what component has an issue.

What is pulling the code ? This is from holding the wire down steady and starts flashing in 5 secs.Same thing when I tap the ground 5 times in 2 secs.

Here is an off the wall thought.....

Try to bring the ECU to its senses by forcing a real error and see if that clears out the flashing. Unplug the gear position indicator or the atmospheric pressure sensor in the tail. Then turn on and start the bike for a couple seconds, turn it off, and see if there is any readable error code.

I was measuring the resistance to ground on the crank position sensor and the meter wouldn't even acknowledge a reading.Book says to replace sensor.Resistance between terminals were within spec. so I thought I found my problem.I got the same reading when I tested the cam sensor, nothing to ground. The book says it should be only to infinity.Where am I going wrong in testing to ground or is that the problem, a bad ground?
