Just Noticed My Boots Are Too Long I was servicing my air filters last night and noticed all of my inlet boots are distorted. It finally hit me. My engine is .080 taller than it used to be. Guess the boots couldn't handle the extra compression without distorting. Do Bears boots address this fact? Oh yeah, also found one of the upper boot bolts in the bottom of the airbox. Man I'm lucky it wasn't inhaled.

I noticed that same issue, when I reassembled my 1347 motor. Did you have to work on the front hangers for the engine as well?

Ken, I meant to show you the boots when you were at RRR!! Karl had some too. They will work better than the factory boots for sure. Bear stacks have two rubber o-rings to seal them to the throttle bodies and one set to seal them in the airbox. Not going to flex either.
You saw what a bolt will do in the airbox, so next time use LONG bolts and some type on Loctite. I put mine in this time with an impact driver. They will NOT be coming out any time soon. Well, maybe for a lil "adjusting" in a few weeks......

Almost every STOCK BIKE I've seen also has the intakes "crushed"...I figured it would be an issue on the strokers for sure...
Also...I dynoed a 1270 at work with Bear's stacks...it got some oil in the air box (until the engine was happy with it's oil level) the oil came out around the billet stacks so...I would suggest using some silcone on them when they are installed if you can't "seat them" against the air box before they are all the way into the throttle bodies...
