what a bunch of idiots...not even on a limited-access road. no to mention being on a friggin public road to start with....
but come on, if you're going to be an idiot on public roads at least protect yourself from left-turning vehicles and u-turners....
i hope those folks aren't from this site, because i hate reading the R.I.P. threads that those people will surely generate if they keep that kind of activity up. We can only hope the only gene pool improvement those people perform is taking their own selves out instead of some other poor schmuck who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
please, someone pour some bleach in their little puddle of the gene pool....sterilize the lot of them.

Well there are always going to be the naysayers.
Smokin: Since when is 1/4 mile the only true measure of what fast is or what skill is? Come on bro, wake up. I do 1/4 too, no worries, I'm about 1/2 a sec and 4 mph off your pace at stock wheelbase. And while I like the 1/4, it isn't my true passion, I dig the top end stuff, the stuff that seperates these bikes from....well....all others basically!
Slug: You are entitled to your opinion. Maybe its crazy to you but none of us were riding over our heads. Way to overreact.

Agreed, they'll be dead in a bike accident. I say 80% chance. That shit is fun as hell, but that don't look like the place to do it. I'm glad I know of less traveled roads than those.

Not to be a naysayer...but nothing in that video really proved any kind of skill. Maybe one wheelie was pretty good. But screaming past cars +80 mph has nothing to do with skill, or good sense.
You know I am not too big on that kind of routine on the street, hence I don't come out on most of the invites....

Ship......................You know I'm a fan of your passion for the 12R and the records you have set with it. BUT!!! you guys really should pick less populated streets for that kind of stuff. One of those cars is going to get shaken and make a fatal error for everyone. I'm not preaching at you because I've done my share of stupid shit as well, BUT seeing it on video really makes a guy think..... Just be careful Ship I want to see you break many more records with the 12R NOT your NECK
You will get to ths stage of thinking when you make it to mid 40s like me.. DON'T slow down just pick more wisely when and where

I have warned people like shiphteey about this kind of racing on the streets . Years ago i told a friend to stop and he didn't , He killed himself and 3 people in a minie van ( a mother and 2 kids) He also WAS a highly skilled rider....shiphteey you have a really big ego and that my friend is going to bite you in the butt one day ...I don't want to read of your death . So keep it on the track and be safe..

While I appreciate everyone's concern I don't feel I was riding over my head....and for the record....this type of riding on the street tends to happen when top end venues are closed.....I dunno how you guys just sit there on your hands for 4-5 months chomping at the bit w/no real release....to be honest I tend to do "this sorta stuff' less and less as I get older, believe it or not!
And Shane, lets not kid ourselves as to WHY you don't come out...even when we do our secluded spot runs you are never game. You've had your chance to run against 2 b models, an A model and a 14 and you never show....time and again! We're too fast in the straights, then you bish and moan about goind too fast in the twisties....yada yada yada.....Texas awaits us bro....I don't wanna hear any more excuses from you, you've ducked time and again!

I dunno man. I like going fast in open straights. But when you start accumulating things like a nice house, wife, kids, good income and can buy whatever tf you want, whenever you want it....hopefully you will look at this as riding pretty stupid. Make sure you have plenty of life insurance for the family when you have one...if indeed you choose to still ride this way.
Take out a family in a cage (and live to tell about it) and you'r f'd for life.

Funny thing is we never truely know what over our head is until its too late.
Too many variables. You never know what the cagers are going to do.
I like reading about the Maxton, Texas Mile more than seeing video on the street.
Reminds me more of Fast Bikes 1,2,3, FTP...Las Vegas Extreme etc...
Take the advice Ship and live to ride the events.
I think Wideout said it best...

are you taking the Frank Kinsey school of racing class? I took it at Moroso speedway in '92, raced a couple of times but many of the locals down there are idiot drug dealers from miami etc.....every race was red flaged at least once and they ran out of abulances (started with 2 that made 2 runes each) and had to medivac twice. good luck down there http://www.bikeland.org/board/images/icons/icon29.gif

you're right, you are the only one who matters there anyway. I mean what does anyone else around here have to really do with your life decisions?
You come in bragging like a kid seeking attention and admiration. Instead a few people express an opinion (yup the dreaded 'O' word) with some 'dark humour' mixed in to lighten the mood a little, and all of a sudden it's a 'me fest' a far as you are concerned.
"None of us were riding over our heads"
Fine. I can accept that, and even congratulate you for knowing and staying within your limits.
However on the public streets YOUR skills mean NOTHING when dealing with every other vehicle out there. All the threads i have seen here over the years talking about how bad car drivers are, and cell phone user rants, and left-turning vehicle rants..lane crosser rants,....
YOUR skills or limits have nothing to do with the guy who is driving well beyond his 'use by' date who can't see anything past 20ft away and decides to make the U-turn to get to the package store without having to go to the next light....
Your skills or limits have nothing to do with the guy reading a book, talking on the phone, eating a burger, and drifting into your lane just as you are getting there....
Your skills or limits have nothing to do with the guy who is digging for his drink that just fell inthe floorboards....while ignoring the red light he blew through because he was looking at the floor instead of the road...
Your skills or limits are moot when you are traveling at 30-50mph faster than the cars you are passing EXPECT to be passed at....even the ones who DO check, will see nothing close enough to be a danger to them....because they don't expect a 40mph clsing rate on the freeway...
But after the mess is cleaned up it was "their" fault for not seeing you...

First....dude, there are no "secluded areas" where we ride. Second, I never complain about speeds in the twisties, I meet everyone at the next stop.
Third, you and you "crew" of super riders do not intimidate me. I have raced against faster riders than you (and yours), at the strip, and Maxton. So give it a rest.
And, 4th, I suppose, you know I can smack the hell out of you with your 18/44 gearing. If I show up with 17/47, everyone in your group will be crying like bitches.
Oh, that's right, 0-180 mph doesn't count with heroes like you.....
As for Mach2-3, and other such videos....I am not impressed by guys riding like asshats on the street . And I don't think I am alone in this regard....

Shane, you really think you stand a CHANCE? I've run 6.5s all day with 18/44 gearing....you have squeaked a couple 6.9s....on 17/47 gearing....what does that say?
My 1st time to Maxton I ran n/a 185 on 18/44 gearing. You ran 184 ONE TIME after SEVERAL high 170 runs.
So, with all due respect....slow your roll hommie. I could run you all year in 07 @ the strip, no bottle, 18/44 vs whatever the hell gearing you want to put. You will NOT see me and you know it buddy.
Calling them asshats and thinking it doesn't take much skill is SUBJECTIVE!
However, the numbers are OBJECTIVE and so far you've been getting yo ass busted over and over. I mean what more do you want...the hit.....5 teeth in the rear...and roll OFF after 3rd or 4th so I don't come FLYING BY YOU???? How else can I cater the race to you so you can appear competent and competitive in harnessing the beast Shane? How about I run your bike and you run mine just so you can see how much easier and softer your B model really is?

Yeah, I guess I better start running you and your buddies on the street all the time. That is the real test of skill, right? Focus on your stage-none rebuild, my elfish friend....
Here's an idea...invite your Ninja-ridin' homies out to OD to race me. With all those super-wheelie's and lane-splitting street-passes, I am sure they can hand me my ass in the 1/8th, right?

Shane, you REALLY think it takes NO skill to ride fast on the street? What, its just LUCK that explains why people live thru constant top end runs on the street? Gimme a break man.
Stage NONE rebuild? Hmm...well stiffer valve springs means I can spray with more confidence and can up the nitrous to a 60 shot and run @ the strip on stock pistons. I would just need to bump up the fuel. Adding a 2nd bottle to the bike, valve adjustment and a reinforced transmission that can handle the type of HP Vincent Hill, Jim Owen, and the likes put out is a stage NONE? Actually my friend, that is whats called laying the foundation. I've had fun on a stock-ish set-up...but over time things wear, so you beef up the internals. Yeah, sure, it may not show MPH gains as they stand but whereas I could potentially run 8s at the 1/4 spraying 60 RELIABLY once I want to upgrade the fuel pump on a stock wheelbase whereas you can NOT even run ONE SINGLE 9 seconds pass at the 1/4.
Yes, I would put money that both of those guys could holeshot you. It took you how many passes to run a 1.8 second 60 ft? Go on.....tell everyone! 1.8s are a BASELINE and they have no problem running that, I can assure you. I would even put money on EITHER at the 1/8 over you. For the right price I MAY be able to coax them to come out....but you'll have excuses:
zx14 guy: DUDE he has 150cc over me!!!
zx10 guy: His bike weighs 100 lbs less!!!!!!
sigh......

Jeez, this turned into a pissing contest fast. Ilike the fact that you are documenting your rides though. All you need is a swarm of police cars to trail you to your home one time after going 160 + on public roads. slowed me down a bit. I love to go fast too, I wish there was LSR events with the same frequency as drag racing events. Drag racing is fun, but top speed racing is way more fun for me. Going 180+ does it for me better then 115, or 140's.
