You Wouldn't Believe What Happened to Me Friday & Saturday Night

Well where should I start?

1) Friday. A friend of mine ask me to pick up his bike from the shop. I look behind me as I get on the freeway. I see no cops. I get on it for a little bit and then get in the right lane. Later the left lane opens up. I get in the right lane. I slowed down and down shifted from 6th to 3rd. There was a black SUV behind me. I do a wheelie and bunch it. When I slow down, I hear sirens. I look in the rear view mirror and see blue and red lights. The SUV was a cop. HE LETS ME GO. I was so scared.

2) Friday night. My friend and I are on the ferry. He has a bike similar to mine. The ferry makes a sudden turn. They tip his bike, but mine stays upright.

3) Saturday morning. We left Port Orchard 4:30 in the morning. We drive for half an hour when I remember that I forgot my spare parts box. We go back. We got there late. We needed to change tire and work on the bike. We missed the first practice. Then the bike wouldn't start. Everyone was stressed out. Anyway we start the bike. Everyone gets a chance to practice but me.
The race starts. I was the last one to go out. The bike was new to me. But I am feeling good, and the bike feels awesome. Two or three laps later I am getting close to my best time down there. I am hard on the brakes like never before. During the fifth or sixth lap I am approaching turn one at about 160 mph. Usually I down shift to third. I get hard on the brakes down shift once, and the bike starts fish tailing. I am thinking to myself "cool, I am so hard on the brakes that the bike is fish tailing". Then my left foot slips off the foot peg. I am thinking to myself "these new boots suck. They are so slippery. I need to scuff them when I get back". I take turn one in fifth gear. The bike goes sideways. By now I am thinking "What's going on". There were yellow flags waving everywhere. I didn't know what's going on. Then they point at me. I look behind me; there's thick oil cloud. I get off the track. There oil on the track everywhere, my bike is smoking, and the corner workers are asking if the bike is on fire. I look down there's oil on my rear tire, on my feet, and on the whole back end of the bike. They stopped the race for over half an hour to clean the track.

Forgive me folks, for I have never prepared a bike for the track. But isn't there a way to secure a filter so it can't loosen or is it incredibly rare for them to back out. Seems that most tracks go way overboard to err on the side of "better safe than sorry". Just curious.

The filter was safety wire. The safety wire broke. We will be using a thicker wire next time.
