1270 pistons
hey guys rebuilding a 12 with a stroked crank i have three 1270 pistons looking for a fourth or a set for a decent dollar or maybe a answer to this question what might i expect if i were to run the stroker with a stock top end? would i be defeating the purpose of the stroker what would the final result be? thanks for all the help guys

It's not like it's the riding season in Boston.Do it right,you already have 3 good pistons.If you're short on beans,call up JE or whoever makes the piston and give them the 6 digit # on the underside of the piston.This will give them all the info they'll need and order 1 piston and 1 set of rings.You don't say why you only have 3 pistons so I'm assuming the other burnt up.Ideally,I would replace all 4 but life on lifes terms,you have to make the call.Good luck!

a little side track here, if i were to order the Muzzy 1270 big bore kit, what other parts do i need to change?

Yo dont neccessarily NEED to change anything else. It all depends on your $$$$ and how much you want to build the engine. My motor though is 1270 with HD springs/retainers, small amount of port work, billet velocity stacks and degreed cams. That makes a pretty decent combo for the 1270. IMO. You will find that basic setup quite often I imagine.

Starchild Post in the classified, I remember someone had the same problem.
The 1270 is a nice kit, but there are cheaper options.
The 1272 or 1287 kit from APE will save you around $300
that you could use for springs or adjustable cam sprocets.
As a added bonus, you can still buy one matching piston if you have problems in the future.

Single replacement pistons are available from Muzzys for the 1270 kit.

Is this kit cyl. boring only...No upper case boring???

Cylinder boring only. These cylinders aren't like the old school bikes when you had press out the old sleeves bore the block and re-press larger sleeves and then bore the upper case half for the sleeve to clear. Only time case modification is neccessary is on some of the stroker combinations, and thats only for con rod clearance...

Oh and even the 2nd gen 1317 block is now plug and play, you dont have to modify the upper case like you did on the 1st gen blocks..

No shit....Verry coool...Thanks for the tip...That makes it alot easier....Is the Muzzy combo. the best deal going on the 1270 plug and play kit...As far as price and availability goes???

yea i talked with curt about the single piston and that is a direction i may go but it still comes down to having the cylinders bored at 700.00 so i'm weighing the options base on $$$$$$ and advice thanks for all your time guys.

A couple guys here have 3 matching 1270 and 1 new style.
I think muzzy should do their customers a favor and stock
both to prevent the need to buy 4 pistons to replace one.
