How about this Topic? My Blown Up Engine!!
Here is what I just saw when to took the top end off. 1800 degrees is a Killer
The #4 Exhaust valve was eaten, the #1 Piston and Cylinder were also part of the Diet. I need anaothe Cylinder and Head. (Dare I say it?) If this was a 14 it would be the entire engine!

Now for the Transmission! it is in good shape but I need to send it to Robinson for gear matching of the OD Gears!

I think we are trying to become Brothers!!
I just scrapped the aluminum all of the seat and lapped a better Valve in to it and saw the Notches and "MAY" or May not be saved. I will get the cutters out and clean up the seat and see just how high the valve sits. If I can lose no more than 0.005 I think I will be OK with taking the head in for a little welding so that the CC's come out right. If the Price is right, Ladds Porting who saved my Yosh head can weld the head and replace the seat but I would not want to pay more than $250 for that work, specially if I can buy a used head for $5 to $700. Of not for the Valve Damage this was about all I could have expected!

I speak the Truth and exactly what I feared the Most about the 14 would have been FACT. I would be looking for cases! What makes telling that so bad?? You have to measure up all of the Mains and basically build a New Engine. Since WHEN is telling the truth "Bashing" something? SO tell us how you would repair a 14 with a runied Cylinder "Without" replacing the Case? The Hole is about 1/4 inch deep almost into the Water Jacket!
PLUS This is the 12 SIDE. I have stayed off the 14 side so if you do not like the truth go back there where you all can Stroke each other!

Some timers Disease! Turned up the NOS pressure and FORGOT / Did not turn up the equal amount of Fuel Pressure. Like I said, I am going to PAINT the instructions (Nos Pressure / Fuel pressure in 50 PSI Increments) and my Check off List like Arm the NOS you know the basic things old people forget!

I did a much better job than that - head, cylinder, piston, 4 valves, crank, no 3 rod, cases, trans - the whole casaba. Got another engine, fitted Carillos and studs and Je pistons, going OK so far.

For the 14 people, Please tell me how even the Best builder in the World could build an engine that could hold together under a 200 SHOT of NOS with Fuel for a 150 SHOT which caused 1800 "F" degree EGT and 18 to 1 A/F?? Try even 1600 "F" and 14 to 1 A/F which the Previous run showed on you 14 and see if it can deal with it!! The fact that the Damage is not a LOT worse is because of the Best parts were used and assembled with care. This engine is the "Same" engine that has been in the Bike for "2" years under all kinds of racing conditions at Maxton.
Go back to the dark Side and blow "Smoke" up each other Hind Parts and continue to dream on until you push the edge of the 14 and melt pistons because unlike the 12 pistons that STOCK can handle a 100 SHOT of NOS, the 14's cannot handle over a 60 shot without melting the Pistons! I know because I have seen What started to happen in a 1/4 mile on Bear's ZX14 ()Without the "R" ("R" Stands for RACE! No "R" Means Street Tourer! Ask Kawasaki!!

You need to have them change your Status from Novice to PRO! WHen that #3 rod goes it "IS" all over. Sounds like you ported the Oil Pump on a Hard Launch or Long Wheelie!

HOW MUCH?? If what I did could eat a Stainless Valve Head how much Aluminum would it eat?
Then Again you may be correct because with the JE's it would have been twice the Damage and Gotten the case
After seeing the Bottom of the Pistons (WHich all look like new on the underside) a am truly amazed that they were so lightly stressed!!

actually, i am surprised how little yr head was burned up.
The last mojo juice damage I saw torched the combustion chamber big time. Carpenter head on a heavily built Busa looked like someone took a cutting torch to it.

Hi Vince - sorry, didn't say "bad luck about your blow-up". Mine was just five seasons of racing the same motor, hadn't been stripped since fitting the 1270 kit in 2002 and blew during summer of 2005. Let go at about 140 mph but no problems slowing down, just a bit of oil out thru the case front on the exhaust made the smoke. My 9.31/152 was quickest I've been on my bike with the stock motor and 50 hp of gas. Got to ride it off the line like Mike in the vid - that'll get me close to an eight being as I'm only 5'7" and 155 lbs nakid. Happy New Year to all 12R riders. Keith (PS - my boy Lorcan went 9.02/157 on it when it was a 1270 with 50 shot on his second pass.)

Vince, did you hear any detonation when it blew? Or at any time?
The piston looks like detonation damage, and its in the right area to be so.
Is the missing piece in the valve broken off or was it "torched" away?
What did the spark plug look like? was the ground electrode blistered and a grey look?
