Horsepower Mike Fund

My name is Cindy Smith and I am the wife of Steve (Purple Passion) Smith. As with all of you I am shocked and truly sadden by what Mike has gone through and the obstacles he faces in the coming months. He is a strong man and I know he will overcome whatever he is facing with all the support and caring all you folks have shown. I have had the honor of knowing Mike for quite a few years and he has a special place in my heart and like the rest of you I feel an overwhelming need to do something to help. I would like to start a fund to assist Mike in anything that he needs and from reading the wonderful posting on numerous websites I am not alone. I do qualify to do this since my profession is banking and been so for the past 16 years. I have discussed this with Roger Twito and he has agreed to be a signer on the account with me. The funds will be placed in an account in Mike's name at Third Federal Savings Bank in Newtown, Pa. And ALL donations will go directly to Mike to use as he sees fit.

Donations can be made to the Mike Chestnut Fund:

Mike Chestnut Fund
C/O Cindy Smith
412 Grandview Ave.
Feasterville, Pa. 19053

Or through Pay Pal @

Grandview10@hotmail.com

I will send receipts to all of you who care to donate so please make sure you provide a name and mailing address. If anyone would like to contact me you can do so at the above email address. For those of you who do not know me you can confirm this with Roger Twito.

This story really strikes home, as I almost lost a limb in a headon with a car. So with my prayers for his recovery, I'm sending a donation. Thanks for putting this fund together.

You all are awsome! It was mentioned to me that I should be a bit more specific as to who checks are to be made payable to. If sending a check please make it payable to the "MIKE CHESTNUT FUND". Also please send checks to the address below.

Redelk, thanks for the updates on the forum, it was comforting to know what was going on. I'm sure we were driving Roger crazy.

Thanks again for all your support and please pass this and my address along to anyone that shows interest.

I noticed on his bike that his left side cf ram air cover was broken but the right one was ok. I have a good left side from my crash but smashed my right one. I'd be happy to send it to him to help put the bike back together. Can I send it along with the donation to the same address or is there a better one for parts ?

Get well Mike !

Thanks,

Dave

Wow what a great gesture. You can send both the check and the ram air cover to my address. I will make sure that they get to Mike or Roger at the Turbo Ralley the second weekend of June so please make sure the parts are here by June 12th.

Thanks
Steve and Cindy

Well it has been a week since my first posting and I am so pleased at the response. I have received numerous contributions and well wishes through Pay Pal and even got a few checks in the mail already. YEAH! The ultimate optimist in me is waiting to come home and see a bag of mail on my front porch (just like in the movies). Please keep it up and don't loose sight of the goal we are trying to reach, and that is to help someone who's always been there to help us in the past. I know every time Mike comes to visit us, he spends most of his time helping guys fix their bikes and giving advise. We try to keep it quiet when he visits but it never works. Most importantly keep those well wishes coming over the websites, I know Mike reads them all and I am sure it will speed up his recovery.

Thanks and ride safe,

Cindy Smith

P.S. The "ride safe" part is the wife and mother coming out in me, can't help it!

This is for you Mike, from some of the folks I have received well wishes from and have asked to pass them along to you.

Frans Van DeLarr sends you his best all the way from Holland.

Larry Seratt wishes you a speedy recovery. He says "We are all praying for him, and with good friends I'm sure he'll have the strength he needs to recover and overcome the adversities that lay ahead of him".

Jeff Richards from North Dakota wants to give you his best.

Administrators at Bikeland want you to take care and get better soon.

Mike Fisher from New Jersey sends you some get-well wishes and a couple of bucks for beer to use during the recovery. Heal fast and hang in there, from one Mike to another. Hope you get a chance to read all the messages to you on zrxoa.org. Sincerely, Mike ZRXOA#153, the faster Green 99 ZRX, of course.

Karl Slug from Tennessee sends his wishes and wants you to get well soon.

Paul Hogroian from Virginia sends his wishes and said "I believe I met Mike at last year's VA rally. I was the fellow with the car battery atop my Honda 650T. My heart really goes out to Mike; I've had two mishaps myself in the last 10 years but never had an injury like the one he just had. I hope he keeps his spirits up and that his healing and rehabilitation go faster and better than anticipated".

Tom Barttoe send his regards and best wishes for a speedy recover. (Mike I sent his note on to you.)

Mark Scott from Texas sends his regards and a wishes you a speedy recovery.

Fun on Wheels who is Norwegian, but currently staying in Shanghai China wants to send his best wishes. He says he will surely ride with even greater caution in the future as this could or can happen with anyone of us.

As for Steve and I, you are always in our thoughts and if you need ANYTHING we are just a phone call away.

Well that's it for today, I will try to keep you updated each Saturday.

Well there may not be a bag, but look for a box from Florida to help the cause.

Update

Just a quick update, the well wishes and donations are still coming in and greatly appreciated. I spoke with Mike today and he had surgery to his leg yesterday and is hoping to be sprung on Wednesday. He sounded real good and real anxious to get home. There is nothing like recuperating in your own home, plus he can eat anytime he wants.

Here are some good wishes for you Mike from a couple of your friends:

From Dave in Dayton, Fl, get well soon Mike. He sends his well wishes and some goodies, one being a bike part to help you get you bike (and you) back on the road.

Bob McQuage from Memphis, TN says "My best wishes for a speedy and complete recover. My prayers are with you. Get well friend".

Thanks again for your well wishes and donations and keep em coming. Take care.

Cindy Smith
