I think this was the reason for the comment on "gusty, unsafe conditions"
The wind was so bad the first time that Buddy went that someone got off at over 200 as they slid through the traps.......
I must admit that would be a long drive just to watch the wind blow!
We can always get wideout to run the first "TEST FLIGHT"

Seen people at the drags go down at least once every 2-3 races. Just don't grab a handfull and you should be OK.

Yep, grab a handful and sit up at 204...
It's NOT always windy. Sat last time there was virtually no wind at all.

Yep. Sat had almost no wind.
Sunday on the other hand was plenty breezy for me.

I'd worry more about rain than I would the wind. So just play it by ear and if the weather looks good then come on down and if it's kind of bad I hear Karl will have a 9/10's party on the SouthWest Freeway by his house!!!!!

Is that what the guy who crashed did? Nailed the brakes at 204?

Over a year ago it was something to that effect....he spoke to everyone before the races and himself was not 100% sure what he did wrong. Many people (including himself) speculate that he sat up after the traps before slowing down...or possibly nailed the brakes too hard.

I just apply the brakes progessively and sit up between 150-160 mph. It was good enough, at 184, to make the .5 mile turnoff at Maxton without any drama.
Hope he wasn't hurt too badly....

Russ lives here in Austin and he was somewhat alright. After his helicopter taxi ride back here to Austin he ennded up with a fractured scapula and later ended up getting it pinned (which I believe should have been done while he was first there). I spoke with him at the Hospital and we figured that a combination of wind and being leaned to the right along with grabbing a handful and sitting up all at once washed the front end out. He was running new fairings which may also attribute to having the front lighten or lift up. Mr. Hill has a very good picture of a front tire off the ground going through the traps at Maxton.
