Hope to be there too but after talking to Mr. Eden at MC, I'll be cutting it close. he said six weeks for my crank. He said they had some guy out of MoCity, TX who is having some real special stuff done to his 12 crank and it was going to set everone else way back.

Well I want to be, and Im so close geographically ,but I have alot to do to the bike.
It would be great if I could get a prep list from you all so my rookie run was a success
Im sure there are many considerations that could be related from the vast experience
available here. Im concerned that on a mostly stock 05 with no way to remove the speed restriction ....would it be worth the effort to make the trip?

Don't know how it's limited, But maybe run higher gearing if it's RPM/gear limited. Most people on stock bikes are lucky to go over 185mph in a mile. So come out and just post up about 20 runs and you will have a lot of fun. Steering stabilizer will be the most expensive investment that is required along with leathers. Visit Texasmile .com for all info., they are very nice people so just call or e-mail them if you have any questions. Plus the Bikeland crew is awsome!

I have the scotts stabilizer, just havn't mounted it yet. I had emailed shane for info about the
pin/ tower mount for the 05 12r. I have fabed a frame mount, but I was concered about the
physical dimensions that I just guessed at. I made the base out of 308 ss 2.75x .625 x .187
the tube is sch80 ss welded to the base. I used the same bolt centers (2.25) for the base that are used on the damper . I planned on using 1/4-20 shcs to fasten into 2d helicoil
sti, ......everything I ever worked on in aircraft ,that was made out of aluminum, that had threaded hole, used helicoils. Any info, or opinions are always welcome, with an advance
Thank You for yours

I only got in 6 runs at Maxton (over 2 days)...it was pretty crowded, and the wind was holding us up on the first day.

It seems like the track would yield higher speeds than Maxton. Any special challenges? I see that the fastest 12 has been 198...that seems slow compared to Maxton.

The track is smooth as glass, but I think a few factors contribute to the low numbers. 1. Windy, usually cross wind right to left 2. Event only twice a year 3. Not many 12's show (Main reason), last October was the most I have seen. 4. Not many 12's with over 200 HP 5. Lack of experience especially on my part 6. Texas is big 7. TexMex weighs you down

Texas12R, I'd go out even if mine was restricted. With a new exhaust on by then, I hope to have my derestrictor tested. As far as prepping the bike...there's not much to it. Check out the guidelines on the Texas Mile website and post up any questions.

Even if you don't ride...you should come out to h00k up with us.

I made 15+ passes and really only hotlapped for most of the day Sunday.

How bad is the wind? I mean 5-10 mph is cool, but beyond that...no thanks!

I ran 184 at Maxton with 17/46 gearing. I think I can do better with just a few minor changes.

As for the 198, I've only ran the mile 2 times, in March and October of this year. I only drag raced before. Like a lot of people, I thought if a bike had plenty of power, no problem to run 200 mph. Not so.
In March, the bike was too long and couldn't get traction. I only ran 180mph but learned a lot. I put on a shorter swing arm but overcompensated because with the stock swingarm, I couldn't launch hard enough and couldn't start the nitrous quick and hard enough. Also, I wasn't quite right in gearing, but still gained 18+ mph. I think in March I will run between 205 and 210 mph with all the changes I will make for that event. I don't know if that is closer to maxton or not.

I've got an Entropy built motor (about 1375cc) and an 80 wet shot. The head and cams are from Coby Adams.

The wind was so bad the first time that Buddy went that someone got off at over 200 as they slid through the traps....... plus the tire I lent Buddy was not the greatest as it had seen the strip a few times, and the Mile a few times........and the gearing was a little high too. My fault.

I think Buddy will see 200+ easy in March if the wind stays good. Just bring a bottle warmer because it is usually still a little cool.

Should be some good racing in March with Entopy's new motor, MadMike, Osti, and WideOut with a few upgrades.............not to mention Buddy coming back to defend his title of Fastest ZX-12 at the Mile. I might even make 200 if my flywheel holds together!

Just come out and run if you need a little extra gearing I am sure one of us will have an extra sprocket or two.

TeamFatAss will see some 200+ results in March for sure! I am banking on Buddy for top honors!

Sure, it's a challenge for TFA's "not so short, not so svelt" members to crack 200, but we are not only good eaters (and drinkers), we are persistent!

I'm voting that we stay in Beeville rather than Goliad; more restaurants!
