Road Rage

This is just to vent a bit, but anyway. Coming home from work last night was cruising on my normal route running at about 80. About 10 car lengths back there is a early 90's camaro, trans am, firebird type of car. So I turn on blinkers and change lanes to the left. About 15 secs later same car comes flying up on my ass and passes me on the left. Now I am in the far left lane so this guy is shouldering it to pass me. He gets in front of me and starts flipping me off (I can see this both from his rear window and from his hand out the driver window. Im confused at this sort of neandertholic behavior so a ways down the road when traffic is slowing to almost a stop and catch up to him. I get to his window and ask what the fuck I did. He starts screaming about how just because I am on a bike I can cut him off and Im a fucking asshole etc etc etc. Now Im not even concidering being a dick at this point so I tell him "If I cut you off Im sorry, maybe I miss judged your speed or something but I didnt mean to" He keeps screaming then flicks his cigarette at me. So once again I try to be cool (maybe he is having one of those days). I tell him if I intentionally cut him off I would not be sitting here saying sorry (to me this makes sense) he screams something again. So I tell him at this point if I intentionally cut you off to be an ass, and you acted like this I would have already been gone and taken your mirror with me. Before he gets the chance to say anything else I bring it up to about 60 in first (nice and loud with the Akro) and bail. I think I handled it like I would want someone to do for me. Even though I was in the right and there (IMO) was no way I cut him off he still wants to be an ass. 2 years ago I would have been trying to hit him through his window but I guess I have mellowed out some. Plus he may try to take it out on someone else if I did that. But anyway that is my story for the day, and any of you that drive hwy 24 in CA watch out for a asswipe in a early 90's camaro type car with a small red/white 3 sticker in the rear side windows.

You handled it better than I would have. Remember I have FOUR "hit & runs" in this area (Hwys 24 & 13), & I've given up trying to talk sense to cage drivers. They will just hit you & keep going; & you will have no witnesses. It's not worth the permanent body damage (voice of experience here), loss of jobs/careers, & PHKING extreme pain you will end up living with forever due to others carelessness.

I do agree on trying to be pro-active & diplomatic tho; flipping off car drivers is counter-productive. The next biker that bozo (you flipped off) comes across now is surely in dire danger of being killed. I don't flip off people anymore; I try to give them something to laugh about (shaking the index finger in a naughty naughty gesture has brought chuckles from cagers before- INSTEAD of flipping them off or honking the horn), so the next rider has a chance to live & not get hurt...

Cagers have long memories of either gesture...

use of engine noise to getpoint accross :P

i did same hting last summer, woman with cell phone completely and totally tries to flatten me
i look at where i was at from my vantage point that evasive maneuvers had placed me, and realized the dumb broad had her window open while tlaking on phone, repeatedly crossiong the line and such, not even trying to stay in lane.

(6 lanes of road, in city traffic)

anywaysi figure she's not gonna talk on her phone while she's driving beside me, so i drop it to 1st gear with that ratty yosh pipe ya'll saw last september

a 600cc bike at 12000rpm at 40mph is a REALLY loud thing, especially when you are trying to listen to a conversationo n the cellphone.....
she wasn't happy....

never had to flip her off, justmade sure she was paying CLOSE attention to where i was at, (well, the tail end of my pipe was even with her open window.

a half mile like this, she never once thought to roll her window up....just kept shooting me dirty looks ;P

so maybe im not nice.. oh well...

Grrrr

I hate Cell phone jockey's, but at least they have some sort of distraction, the dude I dealt with was just ummm ummm a asswipe.

Must say that I envy your self control. Don't know if I would have done the same once he flicked the cigarette butt at me. Think I might have reached in and flicked him around like a cigarette butt. Kudos to you, Bro!

self control

I guess looking back I have changed quite a bit. Couple years ago I would have been swingin on this guy through his window, trying to dent his car. spitting, whatever I could do I would have. Ah to be young again ;-).
