joe rocket stuff Any opinions on Joe Rocket Reactor leather mesh jackets? I know it's not as good protection as regular leathers but am looking for hot weather gear. Seems to be good quality, what do you guys think?

I love the textile mesh jacket...dunno yet how well it would hold up in a high mph getoff ~probably not all that terribly well~
But leather is completely out of the question during the day now in florida.

GREAT JACKET I have the Reactor and I LOVE it. VERY light weight. If you want it to keep warm, forget it. You might as well wear a long sleeved t-shirt. I don't think it was made for warmth. It is great for summer ridding or for riding on a warm night. If this is what you are looking for get it. It's great. It also offers you a certin amount of protection. The one thing I did do is remove the inner pads. The jacket looks and feels alot better without them.

Next leathers are going to be custom.
I will never buy off the rack after Laguna last year.
The whole zipper thing kinda turned me off Joe Rocket.
As will any gear, don't buy it just before an event.... budget time to wear it for a bit, to see where it fails you.
That way you won't be in the middle of nowhere, having your husband help you sew the zippers in your brand new Jacket + Pants...
But hopefully you will be closer to home, and have a good leather guy that can help you.

damn, princess...musta' been some kind o'bad juju...i still have my jr sonic and balster pants, both perforated and enhanced with ce/hard armor...i even had a full circumference zipper installed so i can feel 'tight'...i move all over my bike when i ride and i definitely have the mass to torque the shit outta' my jrs, but so far so good...hell, i might even have the velcro sewn onto the knee area so i can wear pucks with it on track-days one day

My Joe Rocket blaster pants had a bad zipper from day one.
Pretty embarassing stepping off of the bike and having your zipper all the way down while wearing tighty - whities highly contrasting your black leather. I had to wear black undies untill I replaced the zipper!
I have not had any other problems with any Joe Rocket gear other than that.

I had the same prob with my blaster pants. They were quick to fix the zipper and get them back to me, however. And no probs since. The racing stuff is absolutely top drawer. 1.7mm leather, absolutely bulletproof stuff. The real test of leather is how well it saves your skin when you're sliding down the track at whatever speed, and for me, Joe Rocket is the answer.

Same comment on the blaster pants. The zipper is shit. The Joe Rocket race leathers are awesome. Heavy and stiff to break in but they will save your ass and the other parts as well!!
Some of Rockets other weather gear have questionable placement of seams and zippers. Most of the people I have talked to find they leak. The First Gear Kilaminjara (sp?) is unreal. It is tough and does not leak period!!
