higher capacity injectors (again)
Supra (i think) posted some time ago that 04-05 injectors are rated at 370+/-cc/min compared with 00's which seem to range from 310-330.
Anyone actually mounted a set of 04-05's on a 00/01????
I have a set of 375's from RC, but they are gonna be a royal PITA to make work.
My 1427 developed a weird drop in hp which has me pulling my hair out and i wanna eliminate fuel delivery issues as a possible cause. I just sent my OEM injectors off to RC for cleaning but also wanna investigate higher capacity ones.

someone on the board measured the 04-05 zx12r injectors at 380-390cc per minute depending on how
clean the injectors were. The stock injectors DO NOT flow enough to support a 1427 motor. You can get a stock set of 04-05 injectors for 80 to 100 bucks from 5-0. On the A models the fuel pump is not as strong as the b model. You might as well upgrade the fuel pump with that monster 1427 motor.

Supra,
i have a Muzzy pump so OK there.
In the past my 1427 has produced up to 229hp with the stck injectors on Nutec sp5+ and 15:1 CR. Great dyno hp but real poor track longevity (detonation or pre-ignition, i can never remember which is which).
Maybe my stock injectors were on the edge and slipped over???
Do you know if the 04-05 injectors will fit in a 00??

Why a PITA, Karl? The RC 550's that Rob sells go right in with a small spacer (which he supplies, I think). You just lose some frame clearance on the rail. I've been using them for years. The stock injectors are really flakey over 200 hp. If you are still running the same ones they're probably taoast by now. Flow is mush more stable with big ones.

Doug,
PITA because the injector length puts the rail right against the airbox, and getting the TB's onto the motor is problematic (for me).
Now that I have the motor out, I suppose that i can mount the injectors/TB's before rotating the motor up and securing the top rear motor mount.
If the rail is against the airbox will the vibration bother the fuel delivery???

Using them for years now?? Ok, sounds interesting!
Why did you go with the "550's"? I would suspect they would operate at a reduced "Duty Cycle".
feedback on entropy's question will come in handy also.....Thanks!

Are the 12 injectors high or low impedance?

Just curious what kind of a duty cycle are your injectors running with that monster 1427?
Also curious on the price of those fatty 550's?
Ya might want to switch back to the Hans for the Big Dyno Numbers!!!!!..........Just Kidding ya.

Yes, brings the duty cycle down to the point the the injector is actually having some "resting" time. They stay cooler last longer and the fuel qty is more stable.
No sign af any problems with the rail on the frame. I reckon the fuel under 55+psi pressure isn't going to "foam" is it?
Did the same thing on my Corvette- went from the stock 26 lb/hr to the Ford SVO 32 lb/hr injectors. Mush easier to tune.

Doug, I'm running the Lucas/delphi 42# injectors (disc type) and found the slow speed metering and driveability better than the SVO pintle style.
Do you use HpTuners software for the Vette?

Running big injectors/fuel pump would allow a larger dry shot of nitrous, correct? I have heard of some resistor mod for this. Would that even been needed with a properly tuned big injector setup?

Hey Doug, It looks to me like your target was in the 50% Duty Cycle range...Correct?

i am told that going too low on the hi end, makes tuning on the low end problematic.
