Like many others here, I can safely say (with all due respect) I'm not sure what your asking.

Are you asking:

What are the gains of lightening the crank?

Or are you talking about the flywheel?

Are you asking what the effects would be by having a 2004 model with a lighter crank?

It would probably rev a little quicker although I'm not sure its worth the "gains" in terms of money spent. If your motor is already open then its something to consider but keep in mind there are differences between the 2000/2001 and 2002+ models. Not all of it swaps over.

Again I'm trying to understand your post and while i THINK I understand part of it, I KNOW I don't understand most of it. Cluthing?

A.

WHen not the language you use it is difficult! I also do not know the word "CLUTHING"

As close as I can get is Clutching or using the clutch as in taking off. The 2000's require more skill to ride because of the lightened Crank and the no nonsense throttle bodies. They are easier to stall and you have to be more precise when taking off. I almost fell over with mine because it was one of the first ones and had a dry clutch and it was grabby.

To make the bike easier to ride so that less skilled riders could operate it they installed a heavier Crank and the Oval throttle Pulley so that the Bike was doing for the rider what they could not manage to do for themselves.

Then in 2004 they made the bike even easier to ride by installing the second set of fuel nozzles to control the power also so the riders could keep the front wheel on the ground while accelerating

Pierre (Bear Engineering) said to me that when you take a 2000 Engine and put the Light Altenator assembly from the 2003 & 4 it Revs like a 2 stroke.

Here is something I've often wondered:

What is the significance of the lighter crank and reciprocating mass? Once you engage the clutch, isn't the entire driveline essentially reciprocating mass?

I can understand it revving up faster in neutral...but once in gear, does it really matter? Would lightening the rear wheel have a similar effect to a lightened crank, as far as acceleration goes?

Correct, anywhere in the drive train you remove mass or weight the bike will accelerates more qickly.

The engine will make the same HP. But the dyno will see more torque because of less mass to spin up in the engine.
Its like having a 300 hp engine in a small car and running 11 sec 1/4 mile times and then taking that engine and putting it in a big car and running 12 sec 1/4 mile times.

But on a water brake dyno holding the engine at 10,000 rpms with zero acceleration the rotating mass doesnt matter and you will read the same torque.

Also you loose some engine braking with less rotating mass.

Ive got an 02 and since the motor is apart the crank is getting the treatment. Hopefully it will be noticeable difference.

shiphteey i am sorry if my question is not clear and try my best to right in english, what i want to know it's the good or bad of lighter crank and averybody gave me good answer, and my engine it's out so pourquoi pas!!
what i think ? if the engine make 100hp and at the wheel and is making 80hp rwh the lost is 20%
if you light the crank , the engine will rev faster if is reving faster it will recuperate hp % from the the 20%
(Y2KZX12R)Also you loose some engine braking with less rotating mass. that's gonna be good for me on the trac since a don't have sliperie clutch
cluthing bad word
