Here's a picture of mine mounted. I used a high strength SS 5/16-18 (s;ightly larger than the ones that come with the scotts mount) I drilled and tapped the frame used loc-tite and safety wired them. I have had it mounted over 4 years with no problem. I vacumed out the air box and blew the rest of the chips out the front with compressed air.

I've got the Scotts Damper on my 03 .... extremely nice piece of hardware. I don't know why I waited so long to get it. It most certainly is needed on ANY bike that is used for ANY type of racing.
There are unforseen things that happen on the street and strip... it's nice to know that when the shit hits the fan (and it will eventually!) you're prepared. Although many say it's not "needed", I feel it's worth it's weight in gold for piece of mind. Remember, we're not on scooters here.... we're on one of the fastest mass produced machines on the planet.
The last thing I want to worry about is if I'm going to lose control of my bike due to road debris or something.
BTW, the installation of the Scotts Damper is a piece of cake if you employ the services of an 8 year old that's handy with a wrench! Those of you who've installed one know exactly what I mean.

quote: I have the MUZZ Man's (Muzzy, When I saw it on Doug Meyer's Bike I knew that was good enough for me!) and made my Own Kill switch!
I also have the Muzzy damper. It is quality unit for sure. I would buy another one in a minute.

Muzzy one here. Group buy back in 02 or so.
I had a few times where she started to shake a little when the front touched back down under hard corner exits. Never in a straight line. It seems if the bike is still leaned over a little when the front touches down she wants to shake.

One other thing to consider is cost...you can get the Scott's kit for $405 online. About $240 cheaper than Muzzy. Also, the damper is useable on many bikes, all you do is purchase the mounting kit when you move on to something else...
I definitely had some slappers this summer at the dragstrip (pre-damper). You don't even know the front end is up until it touches down halfway down the track...and it can be ugly. Especially if you are stock ride height in the rear, and using a front-end strap. Makes for a pretty radical steering geometry.
