Dunlop 208 GPs????? Does anyone here have any experience with these tires. How good do they work on the 12 with an aggressive rider???? I'm gonna have to buy ANOTHER set of tires before the Gap trip and I've got a buddy offering me a good deal on a set of 208s, but I don't know anything about them. Even though it's a good deal I don't care, I want a tire that will hold its line when pushed hard. I hated the 207s and am skeptical about the 208s. I know they come on the new 12s and was wondering if any of you '02 guys have really pushed your bike to see how well they work. I mean PUSHED!!!! I don't want to be sliding around at the gap. Unless it's on purpose. ____________

Rick, dont bother wasting your time with chosing tires!!! Just buy the Pilot Sport HPXs and you will be very happy with them when they are warmed up!!! I am on my second set as I use them for DragRacing... I dont get any wheel spin with them!!!

The 208GPs are a great track tire. I don't think they come stock on the 12. There's lots of good choices out there, but if I was looking for a set of tires for the Gap, I'd look at the Bridgestone 012s. And consider going down from a 200/55 to a 180/55

The 208 GP's provide phenominal grip and feel compared to the stock 207 ZR's. They are however essentially designed as a track tire which means that the walls are not a stiff as a regular street tire. On my 12 with 208's installed the bike has a tendency to weave a little under heaving braking, noticed at a recent track day but only occasionally on the street, and is not as stable at warp speed. If you really are going to try to lay the smack down and do some knee dragging try the 208's, if not may be consider the new 207RR's - stickier compound than 207ZR (based upon the 207 GP I have been led to believe) with street type construction.
2 cents.

Thanks Guys..... The only reason I asked about them (208s) was because a friend was offering me a deal on a set, and I'm a little pressed for time as far as ordering a tire goes. I run 010s and love them, but it seems now that I have piped, PC'd, and had the front forks reworked I'm using up my tires pretty quickly. The rear tire is "new" with LESS than 700 miles on it and is almost down to the wear indicators. This is the worst wearing 010 I've had. The tire is working great, bike feels planted as ever, but my corner speed had increased and my exits are even harder on them, and it is showing everytime I look at the tire. FUCK!!!! Big Mike told me yesterday about one turn I laid a very long darkie in. I said "Which turn was it"? He said "Where those houses are that have the lake". I knew where that was and said "DAMN I was in 3rd gear, how long of a darkie did I leave"?!?!?!? He said "The whole time you was on the gas it was painting a DARK one". Fucking tire eating ass 12 is killing me. No way in hell this rear tire will survive the gap trip, and the front needs changed as well. I've got a front, but no rear, and Chaparral sells out of 010s about as quick as they come in. Great tire for the money, but this rear I'm running now has went away twice as fast as any of the others I've ran. I'm gonna go ahead and try to get another 010 rear since I already have the front, but if this rear doesn't hold up any better I'm gonna try something else next time, or slow down. ____________

The max size for rear 208s I believe is 180. You might not want to go that small on the 12. No race tire will perform well on the street IMHO. You will just never keep them warm enough no matter how you ride. The Pilots are great but ONLY when fully warmed up which in their case takes a long time. When riding and stopping I would always prefer my tires to warm up as quckly as possible. I've tried lots of tires and think that the new Metzeler Sportec M1's are the best tires I've had so far. And they're not all that expensive.

Thanks..... I just ordered another 010, hopefully it will fair better than the current one did. I have absolutely no problem with how the 010 performs, and have been getting much better milage out of them. I hope this next tire fairs a little better because I do like the tires, and I have really gotten used to how my bike works with them. The front has held up great, but it stays off the ground a LOT. I'm gonna go ahead and change it because of the trip, otherwise I'd run it another 1000 miles around here. I'll keep it for a spare though.

tires tires tires everywhere The 02 ZX12r comes with OEM 208's on it, I got almost 5500 miles out of a set, running the gap on 2 different occasions, a track day, adn a number of days on the 1/8th mile. While i liked the tire, and it wore well, it didnt perform like I had hoped it would. I have run Pilots, and Pirelli's, I put a set of Dragon EVO's on it and love them. I run a set of Pirelli Dragon EVO Corsa's on my 6R for the track and for the street. THEY ROCK....the Pirellis took more time off my laps then my pipe and all other modifications that have been done to the 6R.
