oil pressure
Doug Spencer mentioned the low oil pressure of the zx12 at idle.
But I didn't pay it much attention until a few night ago.
I put alittle oil guage in place of the oil pressure sending unit for the oil light.
Less than 10 psi !
I don't think I will ever run my idle less than 14-1500 rpm again.
Wal-mart carries a oil guage for ~$10 with everthing you need to test this for yourself.
I'm considering during a permant mount for the guage off a tee to keep the light.
It will make you change the way you handle your baby.

Just checked one the other night with hot 10-40 in it at idle. 5psi! Around 35psi at 4 grand though. 70 when wacked.

yessiree, after putting a permanent guage on it and seeing low #'s when hot, i set the idle at 1500 or higher.
Also,
Mobil-1 helps out quite a bit as it seems the keep pressure better when it is hot.

That's kind of low! You would think someone would have made a gear or oil pump to increase the pressure a touch. Guess it's too late with the 12 on the out's and the 14
on the scene.

+1!!! Mobil1 15w50 does a great job of retaining viscosity when HOT.

Just wanted to get the word out that we could be during damage with the low idle.
I know i love the big cam lope but not at the expense of my engine.

We have been running gauges on the cars since 2000. The 12 has very low pressure when hot at idle. 10psi would be good. Dont let this scare you, they are all low like that.
