Michelin Pilot Sport HPX ......
Whos tried them?
And how did you like them?
How long did they last?
I just ordered a set to try. With this 1375 engine the dunlop 208's are lasting about 1500 miles and the centers in the rear are GONE!!! Zero tread!!! The fronts get cupped pretty bad also but all tires on every bike i've owned cupped badly after 2000 or so miles. So I dont think theres much I can do about that.
I was getting 2500 from a rear when the engine was 1199cc.
There kinda pricey at $194/$125 but if they last 1000 miles more then its worth it.
How about the duel compound tires? I may try a set of those if these dont last.

I had it on my 1375 motor.. With just 300miles on it it eats away at least 2mm of rubber.................. But corning is superb!

They'll ride much better than the Dunlops and wear better too. Mileage really depends on Your ride wrist but You'll probably get more out of them. I used to run HPXs but then tried the Diablos and find them even a little better with similar mileage. And they're usually much cheeper too!

Jim just make sure you warm them up before fooling around on the bike...
Especially with the cool weather coming these tires run on the cool side, and cool down quickly when sitting...
They have great traction...I would go with 38lbs front - rear, use less in the rear if your spinning a little...The rear tire leaves nice blackies all over the place

Maybe I'll try a set of diablos after these wear out.
Psycho, how many miles are you getting from a rear pilot power? I've heard that they dont last for shit on heavy bikes with alot of power.
Two, 200+ hp busa guys told me dont even try them. Thats why i'm trying the HPX's
Any one try the dual compound tires yet?

I have been running my HPX's for 3 years now......I would venture a guess at around 5000km's in total, a few trips to the strip, many dyno runs, a 1270 engine pushing 185-190 hp, and over 300 with the nitrous. I have about 1/3 of the tread left, and after SBW managed to make them a lot more even wearing (finally got the sidewalls to catch up with the centre). I have a set of diablos ready to be mounted, but I can't seem to wear these tires out.....

The normal Pilot Sports will wear much faster than the HPX version.m I've got over 10k km(6k miles) when touring but when in home and riding twisties it's more like 5000 km (3k miles). Now on my first set of Diablos and after 6k km of riding trouhgh Europe and alps also in heavy rain I like them very good so far and mileage seems good too.

Y2K;
My last rear went 3,236 mi. Front still looked good. However it was slightly feathered from the heavy breaking and turn in. I always put on a SET.
As you may know, I run a Very Healthy 1270cc 2000 12R. The Arizona heat does not help much.
That's GOOD milage with all the grip you can use!!

I've had the HPX tires on the bike for 3 good rides and so far I'm impressed at the dry cool weather grip. Cant tell yet about mileage.
The rear has enough grip to lift the front wheel mid turn while still cranked over. The 208s would spin and slip laterally if you wernt almost straight up exiting the turn. These allow much more throttle sooner mid turn, but now you really need to watchout not to unload the front before you finish the turn...

I am not a Pilot Sport fan.....dont even bother with them for that price...you can get Pilot Powers for the same price and they are a better, longer lasting tire than the HPX....
