Who is this Man? & Why is he so Happy? Trip to SA Part 1

The Man in the Middle of the first Picture is "Pierre Labuschange" He is the Owner of Bear Engineering in SA. He also owns Bear Racing which is one of the Most Serious Drag Racing Teams in South Africa. It all started when he Bought a New Kawasaki ZX12R in 2000 and put a beautiful Paint Job on the Bike and People called the Bike the "Jewel Box" (Yes it looked good but could it run!)

Angered by the reception he received he set out to make this bike one of the Fastest and Quickest Motorcycles in South Africa Holding Land Speed Records and Drag Racing Records. Since no Race Parts are made in SA for his bike, he engineered most of his own parts and had to stop his Business (Makes Pumps for Mines in SA) to Make the Parts for his bike.

When he had beat all of the Competition in SA he came to "America" to Race at the World Finals in Gainesville November 2002 flying his bike and people here to Compete. Since the places he races in SA are all between 4,000 and 7,000 feet of Altitude it was extremely hard to set the Bike up for the Atmosphere here and the Traction available and the Bike ran High 8's on its better runs. He made no excuses and went back to SA.
Some of you know that he came back in 2003 with a ZX12R Turbo and made it to the Semi Final Round Turning a 7.57and and the Same in 2004 but his love was always for his Original NOS Bike.
This brings us to Wednesday August 9, 2006 (A Holiday in SA "Women's Day) and Tarlton International Raceway

The Old Kawasaki ZX12R NOS Bike now is the Bike on the Left in this Picture

which has a Best time of 8.40 at this meet
And the Velocity Racing Turbo is now the Bike Front Left in this picture.

which has a Best ever time in SA of 8.13. I was told that the bike in the Below Picture is the Same Bike as ridden by Barry at Indy in 2004!

This Bike is Ridden Brad Anassis the #1 rider in SA Right now. These two Bikes Meet in the Semi-Finals (By now it is Night in South Africa) as seen in this Picture

Even though Brad gets the Hole Shot but the Velocity Trubo Busa can only Muster a 8.60 against the 8.42 the Bear Racing ZX12R NOS Bike and Bear wins the Round and Advances to the Finals where he met the Other Hot Turbo Busa owned by KCR and ridden by Francie Engelbrecht who is in 6th Place in the Championship standings.
We all have been at the Races for over 12 hours now and the KCR Turbo Busa and the Bear ZX12R line up for the Final race of the Event.

The KCR Bike runs a 9.0 Flat and the Bear Racing ZX12R runs an 8.65 but loses because of a 0.145 Reaction time. The Short story here was the Rider was Shot 2 weeks earlier and had only been out of the Hospital for a few days before the event. As you can all imagine, the Events of the Day really made The Owner Of Bear Racing the Happiest Man at the Event! I was also happy that my First Trip to South Africa I was able to see such Great Drag Racing and Hope to Return to see More in the Future and maybe some Land Speed Racing to Boot

Specially at 7,000 feet! The Zx12R Turbo best time is 8.12 so they are that close the same bike over here still getting better ran 7.57 and feel that it would have run 7.40 in a clean run

Busas?? Even some of Pierre's Friends ride Busas! Here is "Pastor" Fanie (Prounced Fonie) and his Bike that ran a 9.10 with the Throttle Bodies lifting off the engine and over 1/8 inch play in the Turbo! FROG (Fully Relying On God) He is Serious about Church and runs a "Biker Church" that has mostly Black People and (From what I hear) Bikes are allowed in the Church!

Fanie is no Jocky! I am 250 and 5'11" See what I mean??

ALMOST!! Makes me look Small (Well at least reasonable in size )
