24 volt system requirements
I have been thinking about doing a 24 volt system for my bike and had some questions.
If I remember reading correctly the 24 volt system spins the starter faster. It is also for
the most part the voltage that causes this more so than the amperage? If so what size
battery is needed and how much is the minimum amperage that the secondary 12 volt
battery will need to put out?

I bought a small battery about 3" x 3" X4" and it works fine. It's at entrophys right now or I could get the exaxt info for you.
The way the 24 volt system helps is due to ohms law. If the resistance (the starter motor) stays the same and the voltage doubles, the amperage will double also. Power is voltage times amperage, so you get 4 times the power for starting. It works very well.

One caution, if you're useing a 24 v system and have motor problems, don't hold the starter button engaged for longer that 3 or 4 seconds. My bike usually starts within 1 second no matter how hot it gets. Thats how well that system works.

Yea That makes sence, I was thinking that the amperage would be half because of the higher voltage. Volts go up amps go down. But that would only be in an a/c motor when you are changing the wiring (windings resistance). I forgot about the fact that the resistance in the starter motor is the same.
I used a little 4ah battery and it fits nicely in the rear trunk area. Only takes up less than half the trunk area.

Thank you all much, I just had very limited space in the trunck with one nos bottle and one air bottle, plus EFIR, Nos control, ECU, PCIII. If I remember correctly I think Buddy has his mounted right on the side. I'll have to take a look at it and maybe run it there instead, for easy access.

If you do not mind me asking Buddy, were you running a 100 shot or 120 shot of Nos and what compression were ya running?

My nitrous system has .024 nitrous jets and .028 fuel jets for how ever much that makes in power.
I don't know how much compression. It wasn't super high, but when it got warm after a couple of runs, it wouldn't turn over with a 12 volt system. Usually if the pointer was one step above the 1/2 way mark, it was too hot for the 12 v system.

Gary,
I was going to edit the above post to put a little more info in, but don't know how since there is no edit button.
Anyway, I did put the bike on the dyno at Sabins when I had the .022 - .024 jets to check the A-F relationship. The bike made an additional 85 horsepower before the tire began slipping on the dyno. I'm not a big fan of dynos and the A-F was good, so I didn't make any more dyno runs.
