ZX signal output to dyno?
Never having dynoed the big Ninja, I rode by a local dyno shop (specializing in HD's.) He offered to do it on the spot for $50 (cheap), but we had no idea where to get the coil "signal" from w/these newfangled "stick coils."
I'm used to the old KZ's/ZRX w/standard coils & have a wire hanging from one of the power leads of the coil. Where do you take the signal from for the ZX12R? I'm know it's right in front of my nose, & just not seeing it...
Anyone?

In the wire harness below the tps there are four red wires with black tracers those are the coil wires, can't remember but you might have to peel tape to get at it. e-mail me at home if you are having trouble I might have a pic somewhere.

Uh, no; (Castro Valley HD shop) but I have been there before. Dynoed my ZRX1100 there when I first got the cams in = 134hp. They seemed to do an alright job...
Why? Problems there?

Dave, they need to use the induction pickup that senses the primary side of the coil. Its different than the one for the secondairy side that your used to using.

Uh, please forgive my ignorance, but can you elaborate?
Or link to someplace that has details?
Thank you!

I take the rpm signal from the ECU.
looking down at the ECU, while facing towards the rear of the bike, the left plug, the leftmost lower wire is black with an orange stripe. That one works.

Chinos
I think the guy at Chinos was a bit sped out when he did my bike. Real bad spot at about 6K, burp sometimes at about 5K. Didn't know a PCIIIR could do timing. I just think after 4 hours it should have been pretty damn perfect. Anyway loaded the map for the Akro with stock filters from K&N site and Hanks timing map and could not be happier.

Well I don't think the HD shops around here know much about the Japanese bikes. When I took the 12 to this place in CV, he had no idea how to hook up the bike (course, neither did I!) The reason for this thread...
In the whole Bay Area, I've found three shops that have done ZX12R's before. Factory Pro (Mark Salziburg) in San Rafael (too expensive/too far), FastTrack in Fremont (need to call them), & Hare Racing in Sunnyvale (too far but appear to be the best around -need to call them too.) Here is the link w/DL'able price listing: http://www.hareracing.com
What kind of hp/torque numbers did you get? Before/After? I haven't done the PCIIIr thing yet cuz of all the complaints (& a few disasters!) The bike seems to run just fine on the Akrapovic w/K&N's. Only problem is some backfiring on slow (coming to a stoplight/stopsign)deacceleration.
You should have seen me looking for the coils; laughable!

HP numbers
Ran at 162.3 Bhp after, but think that number could be higher now with diffeent fuel map and timing map. May bring it back there just to do a run and see numbers.
