Conversian settings
I'm trying to compile a list of Yellow box settings for the 12. Information is scattered and since the Yellow Box is a generic unit specific gearing combinations with the corresponding DIP switch settings are not included in the unit's instructions.
Stock gearing equals a 2.56 final drive ratio. Changing the 12's rear sprocket to a 45 equals a 2.5 final drive ratio. It's been posted that an 18/45 combination corrects the stock speedometer reading via a GPS. The differance between the two final drive ratio's is 2%.
I'm going to set mine at 2% to correct the speedometer with stock gearing and confirm via GPS.
I've been specifically asked about correcting the speedometer reading for 17/47 and 18/48 combinations. So, mathmatically speaking:
18/45 = 2.5 final drive ratio, no correction.
18/46 = 2.56 final drive ratio, 2% correction factor.
18/48 = 2.67 final drive ratio, 4.25% correction factor.
16/44 = 2.75 final drive ratio, 7.5% correction factor.
17/47 = 2.76 final drive ratio, 7.75% correction factor.
17/48 = 2.82 final drive ratio, 10% correction factor.
16/46 = 2.875 final drive ratio, 10.25% correction factor.
16/47 = 2.94 final drive ratio, 15% correction factor.
17/51 = 3.0 final drive ratio, 17% correction factor.
16/48 = 3.0 final drive ratio.
Do any of these figures correspond to the real world numbers derived by GPS testing???????
Also, I've not seen any rear sprockets smaller than a 43 tooth advertised as available for the 12. An 18/43 combination equals a 2.39 final drive ratio.
I've read a post where repeated runs of over 200mph were made @ Maxton with the RPM's at 12K through the speed trap with a 18/44 sprocket combination. If it's physically impossible to fit a 19t CS sprocket then smaller rear sprockets are going to be needed to reach higher speeds.

My bike is in the shop getting the recall work done right now so I can't verify my settings. However, I just installed my yellow box two weeks ago and with my GPS the correction factor to make the speedo accurate (stock gearing) ended up around 8.5 percent. I was still tweaking when I had to take it to the shop.
