I remember how touched she and the daughters were when they read all the responses on the board. That was the most awful post I ever had to make...

Man, has it been three years already? Like a lot of people here, I never got a chance to meet Don, but I still miss him. His character even shown through in his posts, and I was looking forward to meeting him some day.
Have a great ride, guys. I wish I could be there.

It was a good ride! I took Nicky (Don's wife) in the sidecar. I was last bike out, so swept for any stragglers. In the sidecar, Nicky had a completely unobstructed view of scenery, which she loved. Going down the twisty bits, I was really fighting the front end, using all the front tire to get it to turn to the right. Then I remembered my training and stepped on the rear brake, applied throttle, and kept steering it to the right. Doesn't exactly sound intuitive, does it? By stepping on the brake, you are slowing down the undriven sidecar wheel (on the right) while applying power to the driven wheel (on the left), so it helps turn the bike to the right. I kinda reminds me of my farm days and turning a tractor with the cutting brakes.

Swft.
Great post, I think you and Nicky are class acts. You for taking Nicky, and Nicky for remembering Don's Passion. My Spirit was also with you and give my best to Nicky.

Thanks Rob! I want to put together another poker run for this year:
Longer run tho...At least 120 miles, with the poker hand being best 5 out of 7 cards.
Two routes, one for cruiser / touring bikes, one for sportbikes, but with the same five checkpoints out in the field. I'll work on it and see if the dealership wants to sponsor a second run this year, or maybe use it for the DB run next year.
