Yes. On my 12 I have a Scotts/Ohlins.

Nice unit and expensive. You get what you pay for.

The R1 has the factory installed lateral damper I haven't put the bike through the pace's enough yet to comment on how well it works.

Muzzys damper here. Expensive, has some flex in the mount, but havent had any trouble with it.
I got it in a group purchase on here in 2000 that made it more reasonably priced. Otherwise I was leaning towards a scotts. Never had a scotts and wanted to try one.

Scott's on my 2k 12, but it's a PITA to install. Do you have thin arms and small hands?

That's a not an issue if you tap the frame. D

I did mine that way over 5 years ago and it has held up beautifully. I did go up one size with the bolts to an 8mm I think. I had to drill out the holes on the damper bracket to accomodate the larger bolts. That took all of 2 minutes. I torqued the bolts pretty tight, and used thread locker as well. No way my arm would even think about fitting up in the frame. I honestly don't know why they didn't design the thing to be mounted this way in the first place. It seems like the obvious choice to me. I mean you have to drill 2 holes in the frame either way. Anyone should be able to tap a couple holes.

The damper was a wise purchase as I love to wheelie my bike, and generally flog the piss out of it. All of which brought the occasional headshake, which I don't like. Anyone that tells you their bike has never had any headshake is either lying, or they have on lace underwear and don't ride hard enough. I've even heard dumbasses say that a properly set-up bike doesn't need a damper. What a load or horseshit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen brother.

I had to get really creative with the install..

The way the inspection cover is situated and where the lock nuts have to go it's virtually impossible to reach if you have long forearms.

I came up with a trick using a short (2 ft.) length of garage door cable (open at one end, terminated at the other), carefully placed 2 part expoxy between the lock nuts and washer and air box and then fished them them through the install holes and let them set up.

After that you can carefully install the mounting bolts (lock-tited) using a 1/4 socket on the bolts with a really long swivel extension, but the whole process is real close to surgey.

Once installed you'll be happy but its not for the ham fisted or impatient.

So how about drilling the frame and heli-coiling then, would that suffice?

Not sure that i fancy its IN YOUR FACE fitment, could be taken literally, does anyone make a less intrusive damper.

I appreciate the frame is probably the stumbling point for a tucked away fitment.

Anyone used/using the hyper pro set up?? Thoughts /issues

Dude, read my post above. No need for heli-coils at all.
