Diablo front/Strada rear- Good/bad idea
I am trying to get through 2,500- 3,000 mile sport-touring trips without buying a rear tire. I love the Diablos but I get about 1,500 to 2,000 miles at most on the rear. This board had a great evaluation of the Stradas and the Roadtec Z6 tires a while back which led me to purchase a Strada rear. My Diablo fronts last about twice as long as the rears so this combo might wear out together at 5-6,000 miles. My questions is, would mixing these tire types be safe, or would there be an adverse effect on handling due to different traction characteristics. Am I thinking like an idiot- should I just cough up the bucks for a new front Strada also? What is the collective wisdom of this board/ Any input appreciated.

I don't see a problem with having a stickier tire on the front.

I run a BT014 on the front and Strada rear, no problems. Keep this in mind, racers have varying compounds, front and rear.
I always prefer losing the rear over the front

the problem is less the compound and more the tire profiles i'd say. this may be especially true for the stradas because the rear is designed to pair with a front that is exceptionally good at clearing away any water. not an issue if you don't ride in the rain of course. hopefully fish can answer the question better as he spoke of using that very combination.
