Hot Starting Problem

Has anyone ever encountered a hot starting problem on their 12? I went for a ride the other day ,when I got home I shut the bike off in the driveway so I could open the garage when I attempted to restart the bike it wouldnt crank.I hooked up a voltmeter to the Battery Tender leads on the bike and when I cranked it the battery voltage dropped to 6 volts. After letting the bike sit for a 1/2 hour it started back up.The bike is a stock '03 with just a pipe no Power Commander.I'm asking because all the batteries that I have encountered crapping out usually wont crank the bike at all when they have gone bad.

it is not "hot" starting. your battery is shot!! put a YTX-14BS interstate in there and you will be good to go!!

By the way its a stock motor!!!...The motor has never had the valve cover off, just like my motor!!!

I dont know why his bike acts like a Busa with a 1390 piston kit???...Mine dont???

Cheech, I think your 12 is a ringer...

A Nice DEKA battery will work very well in your 12.

We had hot start problems in the race cars. Your battery wires might be dirty. We started running full size batterys on the cars, but to answer your question. Yes, the 12 has a hot start problem from time to time.

a friend of mine's 2000 12 is in top condition, only pipe and commander. he hardly rides, 6000 or so miles. we finally decided to do a custom map. he had been having start problems in the past but we were thinking lack of riding low battery issues. when we ran it on the dyno. the motore started dying. then shut off and wouldnt start. we put a new battery and it would not spin the motor.after checking for engine failure, which wasnt the case we found the starter gear and torque limiter was the problem. the bearings were bad. we had trouble getting them out. once we replaced everything on the starter drive, there has been no issues. bike runs like a scalded dog now. lot of work for a little problem. i havent heard this happen to anyone else yet.
