falicon rods
i have 05 zx 12 motor i bought falicon knife rods. i noticed the slot on rod and rod cap where bigger than tabs on rod bearings . i thought they sent wrong rods ? i called they said they where made for early style bearings but would be ok to run my later bearings. aginst my judgement i put lower half of motor together . so i was thinking how much i didnt like that set up . so i called falicon agian and this guy said dont run them like that . so now i get to tear it back down . has anybody delt with this?

what project did you buy the rods for? what do you currently have done to your engine, and what do you plan on doing?

Mike the 00 and 01 rods and bearing had a wide tab, 02 up had a very narrow keeper tab.
Why i don't know, but i've seen both and that's the visual difference.
carollia(sp) also use 00 bearings.

I think you are asking for a ford vs chevy with that question.
Let me start with I think most builder would use the H beam over anything else
if price was not the driving factor.

Yep, there is a few hundred dollars worth of price difference. I am going
with Falicon as it was cheaper and I do not think I'll ever go over 320HP.
Plus I think they were a touch lighter. The new ones also have better
ARP bolts.

I don't think the carillos have ever had a failure. Fallicon rods are cheaper. You get what you pay for.

Stock will hold 300 hp.
Are you trying to save money or save your engine?
1 rod failure is going to cost you more than you saved.

I've used the Falicons in all my 11's and in the12 (before I knew how good the stockers were). I like the Falicons a lot. The knife esign is plenty strong and offers less oil slinging.
I have a long history with the Carillos in the racecars and they're great, but the real stength issue is in the bolts, not the rods, and the Faliocon bolts are every bit as good as the ones Carillo uses in their "consumer" rods.
rac4it is right, though. You don't need either one. The stockers are plenty strong for anything you'll be doing.

Just curious what the weight differences are between
Stock, Falicon and Carillo Rods?
