home from hospital

Just got back from the hosp. My son overshot a BIG jump at the supercross track and landed in the flat. Didn't crash ,but he smashed his face into the bars.(this was last wednesday)E.R. doc says nothing broken and stitched him up....this monday someone calls up and says to get him back in cuz' he's got a broken nose, and his cheekbone is caved in!! They also said DO NOT LET HIM BLOW HIS NOSE! Shit, he'd already been doing that for 5 days! He had surgery this afternoon and is spending the night there. Now he has a tampon in his nose and a ti plate in his cheek, just under the eye.Damn, I hate to see my kids get fucked up. I also hate seeing me in him,cuz as soon as he can,he'll be back out there doing the same thing! (kids......you just can't reason with 'em)

I hope all goes well for your kid, and he recovers quickly. It must be a tough thing to watch your kids get hurt. I can only imagine. Mine are only 3 and 10 mo. so I still have some time yet, but now I'm thinking of what I put my folks through. Many surgeries, broken bones, torn ligaments, seperations, nerve damage...and the list goes on. And This was only when I played football (highschool, college & pro) no wonder they are gray! It's like you said....you see alot of you in your kid.....Shit! I'm doomed!

I hope he recovers ok without too much pain.I have 5 daughters so I know what you're going through as far as the anxiety of seeing them in pain.

Wishing the best for your son

As for you, "Dad"... your on your own!

I hope those doctors have good health insurance. I'm sure they'll need it after you "slap 'em around" a little!

That's why Mom wouldn't let me buy a bike till I moved out, and could buy one by myself.

I hope everything is ok.

...geez, dino...reading up and catching up here...sorry to hear about your son's hard landing...the young always seem to heal quickly...not like us old farts...nonetheless, a wish for a speedy recovery for him...i wonder, does the ti plate say "ultra light titanium"?
