Not a lot of Chevron stations in the state
Exxon or Texaco 93 octane with an occasional (and pointless) splash of VP C-12. It looks like I need to dig up my copy of "Red Elk's Gas Buying Tips (aka - How Not To Fill Your Tank With Water)"

No Chevron in my area. I use Sunoco or Esso (Imperial) 92 octane. -ZXtra

i'm surprised no-one has brought up the "too much octane is bad" thing yet, since several people here use 94+ octane.
as for me, i avoid the little Podunk county gas stations cause i dont trust them as far as i can throw em, but otherwise i'm not too concerned. i don't believe that shell vs chevron vc petro canada will make a significant difference. realistically, most (all?) of the small stations buy their gas from the big boys anyhow. i had a coworker who used to work in an independant station out in ontario. they would jsut call the suppliers every week and order from whoever offered the best price that week. midn u, i'm not sure if imperial will sell the same quality product wholesale as they dispense in their own stations. that, and i don't trust that the little boys maintain their equipment and tanks properly. this is really my biggest concern in terms of quality.
as for octane, i used to always put 94 into my old car, but finally gave that up realizing i was being a dumbass. paying about $.15 a liter extra for no performance gains and probably insignificant cleanliness benefits (higher grade gas is just lower grade gas with more detergent and octane additives). on the other hand, for those with the ignition advanced, i suspect that higher octane may be required, just as with higher compression. but i really dont know.

Freek, yea ya see the small milk and egg stores around here getting the "whatevers cheeper" fuel from the tanks in New Haven.
I like sunoco 93.
The 94 seems to get poor mileage. Maybe its in my head.
I've dynoed with both and theres no difference in power at all.
Not to start an arguement but I use a catalyist in my fuel.

Amoco is Clearly Better
Amoco Premium is one of the only/few fuels that doesn't have dye in it. Most Co. use a dye in their premium fuel to identify it from the other fuels they sell. I have seen this dye deposit in fuel systems through the years and cause problems. Amoco is clearly better!

ESSO / SUNOCO
I was using the 94/92 octane in 2000 but I changed to 86, the lowest grade.
I rode all year 2001 with 86 and the bike still runs great.
So I'll stick with it for now.

Exxon 93 if I can!!
Gotta hate those stations with a line of pumps. I always pick up the far right one out of habit. (92 or 93) When they happen to sell diesel at only ONE in the line and you fill up with it...........doesn't work too well!!

Sunoco here has 94 .. but I buy the 93 cause it's 10 cents cheaper
my dad has a big suncoco
and yes.. I have to pay for the gas..
there's isnt a big markup on it
and...
there's really 2 octanes at most sunoco stations and the pumps blend the low octane with the high to create the 89 and 93 octane
pretty interesting...

Seriously, nothing available over 91 octane except race gas. All pump gas max octane was just lowered to 91 in this area thanks to the BAARB (Bay Area Air Resources Board) [treehuggers.]
I run Chevron a lot too, but sometimes I've heard the bike ping on it. Also run 76, Arco, & if I have to, (yuck) Shell. I stay away from the independents. Bike seems to like 76 the best. I have no idea why...
