Flasher problem (turn sigs not nekkidness)
Alright all...
I need an elegant solution.
Being super cool (dumb?), I replaced a set of rear turn signals with super fancy LEDs. They are cool. BUT, they don't load up the flasher relay enough. They draw so little power and have such a high resistance its like they aren't there. Thus the relay thinks there are no/burnt bulbs and does the tripple time thing.
I have some ideas, none are elegant.
HELP!

PS anyone going to NYC autoshow?

You should be able to purchase another relay at any auto parts store and increase the resistance to slow the flashing down. Your dealer should be able to tell you how much current the stock lights were pulling and you could just wire the new one in line. This should not cost anymore than $5 to $10..
I hope this is helpful..

RD-
Ok, how bout a bit more detail?
Cause I can load the circuit but not without burning some amps. (big resistors). I need to restudy my electronics.

YES abt 2 ohms wired in parallel will do it. Use at the very least 10 watt resistors and 20 watt would be better.
If u can find the gold aluminum heat sink type power resistors then that is the best.

If I remember correctly the stock circuit is about 25 watts, so try to shoot as close as possible to this ...

Solution!!
NAPA sells a "Load Sensing" flasher relay for @ $10.00
It is round, clear and fits nicely in the Batt. Box w/ a small mod to the plugs on wireing, your ready to go!!

Personally...
I think you are low on Blinker Fluid. The experts on this site agree with me.

Read on if you care.
I have the same problem on my HD. Only more so with self canceling turn signals. I was told by a electrical engineer the most accurate way to solve the problem was to measure current flow at the flasher before and after the led install. Then calculate what size resistor is needed to bring the current flow back to normal.
starting current - ending current=x
Voltage / x = resistance

Yep about 2 ohms should do it..

Most HD dealers sell aftermarket equalizers designed to compensate for bulb changes.
