Honda Scrap New XX Blackbird
According to a full page article in Mcn last week, Honda have scrapped development of their new Blackbird due to the release of the new ZZR14.
The article said the design team have concluded the costs of matching Kawasaki's flagship are not viable and have scrapped the project, and are destroying the test bikes like Triumph did with their 1300 Daytona. Apparently it was going to be very VFR-esque but with an inline 4 1200 motor.
Straight line is one thing but the fact the 14 has had such high praise in the handling and ergos dept
has probably caused this.

At some point Honda's testicular atrophy may require that they remove themselves from the sportbike market altogether.

Honda has an R&D budget that is exponentially larger than either Kawasaki's or Suzuki's.
Seriously. Honda is not in the big gun wars because their conservative corporate posture dictates it.
If Honda wanted to, from a $$$ and technology standpoint, truly compete with Kawasaki and Suzuki they would be right in the mix and most definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Tomorrow we'll discuss (IMO) why Honda hasn't and will not go after the big guns.

I do know they have the money and technology and man I always like there bikes. Flawless ,smooth power and lets not forget reliability. The 1000rr smothest running liter bike around and solid stable bike...

...I'm a Kawasaki diehard, but I've always believed that Honda's expertise and abiities to produce superior products should never be discounted...I think they are wisely watching the market and trends and will eventually unload something jaw-dropping crazy on us speed freaks....like that crazy-wild Rune for instance...they did it because they can....and they will eventually do something just as wild for sportbikers....
