KHI introduces their GP ZX-RR (new 10R?)
Straight from KHI's website

The engine will be a Kawasaki trademark liquid-cooled, DOHC In-Line Four. Using a Ram Air System developed through racing feedback from the ZXR-7 and the ZX-7RR, we have been able to achieve a remarkable level of power. The engine displacement is less than 990 cm3, per the new FIM regulations. Compared to the streamlined shape of our current Superbike, the new machine's angular lines were developed using an aerodynamic approach that aims to eliminate turbulent airflow through the use of its strategically located edges.

redelk, Thanks for the info. This looks to be good. Let's hope it is all that it should be (and that they offer it in black)!

Gee, add 2 mm of stroke and wala!
We have a serious ZXR1000 for the street.
Or if you want the race replica then get the GPX1000 at 989cc.
Both the same price, both the same weight, both the same HP.
But one has more low end and slightly more comfort.
Gee what one would ya buy if they were piled up in dealerships?

That's not a fair question!
It's like comparing the '97 ZX-7R P2 to a '97 ZX-7RR N1. I don't think they "cost" the same either. There were other things like suspension valving, carbs, transmission ratios, et al. Though I doubt either would be "piled up" on the showroom floor (even if it did get a "12R like" review from the mags), I would go for (and wait for, if necessary) the GPX (or RR) version.
The RR could have Showa forks instead of KYB (if that would really be an "improvement" - Ohlins or WP would probably cost too much) or at least be more adjustable. KHI could also make the steering head adjustable or at least offer a kit, like the did for the 7RR. Also, like the 7RR they could have the swingarm pivot sit in a square plate that was interchangeable with other plates effectively allowing one to vary the location of the pivot in the frame.
Neither my 7R or my 12R are in any way, are (were) used for "transportation" purposes. Both were solely for backroads weekend fun. Comfort (for myself or a passenger, which I never carry) and "grunt" were two factors that were never considered prior to their purchase. Still, I would be more then delighted if KHI chose to introduce a ZX-10R and a ZX-10RR versions. IMHO, Kawasaki's "RR" designation on a street legal bike always had that "in your face" attitude and could just as easily back it up!

The plate?
I'm NOT impressed! What does impress me is the "07-02 FL VEHICLE ZX-12RR". That is of course, unless the "ZX-12RR" on the sticker is there just because that's what it says on the plate!

For my money, it is performance, not looks that matters. And, until I see a bike "real life" I can't really know that I will like it. I thought the Busa (photos) was okay, but I really like its looks on the street.
