I'm Done!!!!!
Some of you may have already seen this but....
Damn, I forgot to pass this to my friends on the sites...well I do consider some you my friends!!
After 21 years in the canoe club, I have gone ashore for the final time..
English translation, I retired from the Navy after 21 years of faithful service!!!
This past few weeks I've done nothing but hunt, drink, cut wood, drink, work on the house..drink...you get the picture. This shit is nice..
My time in the Navy was great....If I had it all to do over again...I would do it again!!!
I'm the handsome one on the right!!

Hey Blu!!! Dude CONGRATS!!! and THANK YOU for the 21 years of service!!!! I wish you the best in your future....
I laughed the other day, January 21st... yep 20 years ago, 1/21/1986 I entered the Army from the delayed entry program, and a short 6 weeks later I was sent home with a fractured elbow/bone chips floating around, and a medical discharge that said "severe arthritis" a pre-existing condition??? I had reconstructive surgery on my elbow, dr. said no arthritis, and to this day (knock on wood) no arthritis..... wish I could have done something...

Vince,
I moved to the Eastern Shore in April of 05...I guess I need to update my profile!!
I can honestly say I enjoyed my 21 years...the places I've been, the things I've seen and oh the things I have done!!!!!! I actually got teary at the ceremony!!!
warbird, I retired as a Lieutenant Commander (04)..equavalent to a Major in the Army or Airforce (for those who are not familiar with navy ranks). I spent the first 10 years as an enlisted person. The item hanging from my chest is Defense Meritorious Service Medal I received.
Thanks everyone, ..it was my pleasure to serve!

No OCS...I went through a program called ECP (Enlisted Commissioning Program) If selected, it allowed you to go to school full time to finish your Bachelors Degree while remaining active duty. The army has a similar program..Green to Gold.

My best friend was an NCO for 10 years also...(Round Hat......Drill Instructor) in the Army. he went to OCS and graduated top of the class. 114 Graduates. I sure am proud of him.....it's not easy working full time and getting that accomplished as you know oh so well I'm sure. He is now a Capt. and still in the 101st Airborne serving in Iraq. There is no better commisioned officer than one who was enlisted first in my opinion.
