I'm going with Rickey Gadson's advice...... 16/44... Which comes to 2.75 and helps extend the wheelbase.... 17/48 pulls the rear wheel to the front of bike shortening the wheelbase. 16/44 is like extending the arm but not that drastic...... You get the point......

I hear ya

But 1/4 miling aint for me man. I just wanna accelerate hard and do mad wheelies. I am pretty sure I'll change the front back to stock as I am pretty sure this combo will be pretty crazy but might as well try it for a day or 2.
Green Monster = ZX12Richard correct? If so you have been speaking to a buddy of mine Darrell who is interested in putting the Kings nitrous system on his. We will probably ride down to Toronto this spring to get it done. How do you like yours?

mmm...17/48 did that about 4 months ago...never looked back

Although its time for an arm and to switch to an 18/50 gear for me.

Thats me... My only regret is that I didn't get both stages..... I like the power it brings.... Just the single stage make the stock 12(No NOS) seem almost tame..... It just keeps pulling... Gotta love it.... Stage 2 will be in my future... Maybe even 1270 with NOS..... Gotta love it.... King routed it so only one line was showing... But I rerouted the NOS line now to where you can't see it at all totally stealth........ Love its all I can say.....

18/50 is a 2.77..... But you shorten the swingarm length in the process and become wheelie prone... With the 16/44 you still pull a 2.75 gear and the swingarm is lenghtened to help keep wheelies down... Thats why I'm going 16/44 longer wheelbase still a 2.75 gear.... Its easier to wax someone when your front ends on the ground........

nono..I love the 2.77 ratio...Im only going to 18/50 when I stretch out the arm and have to get a new chain.

Ive never been a fan of making the front sprocket smaller...while ive seen no proof that the chain is weakened by having to turn in a tighter radius...it kinda irks me when I think about it

Rather just leave the nice front stocker..and put a big honkin one on the back

With Nitrous...what gearing ISNT wheelie prone

so tell me....

17/48 vs 16/44...how much of a diff is the wheelbase between the two with a stock swingarm?...does 1"~2" make that much of a diff on the 12R?...I dunno about things like this...that's why I'm asking....

To be quite honest I'm not sure my guess would be around an inch...... Every inch must count because I have seen 1 1/2 inch extended cheater swingarms..... So if you can buy one with 1 1/2 inch extension then fromRickey Gadson. Thats what he's running every inch should help.... Especially with NOS...Just my opinion....... this 16/44 was advice recieved back from an email on his 02 12... He's kinda fast ya know...LOL LOL LOL

17/48 combo

I know that to make the 17 / 48 fit I had to adjust the chain tensioners quite a ways in to accomodate, so wheelbase has definitley been made shorter. Its almost like he 17/48 adjusts it into the GSXR1000 range as far as lifting the front wheel. Looking forward to trying it.
Hey GM did you put your on the dyno with the juice? Just curious about the hp #'s obtained.
I know King says 200RWHP is no problem.
Personally I am not interested in the nitrous upgrade but looking forward when Darrell gets his installed as I'll get a spin on that one for sure. Looking forward on experiencing a 40HP hit on a 12r, must be awesome!
Cheers

Its been to cold to get it to the dyno..... And to top it off this is the third time I have ordered my bigger jet... The first 2 times one was wrong size then the second time they ordered wrong type..... So can't wait to pick the jet up and go.... they only do it on tueday evenings and saturday afternoons... Therefore I need some weather to work with me...... Let you know though..... I'l love the NOS and Wayne is a helluva good guy.... He's always answered my questions without a single complaint... And I always have questions.....

Bah..was a no go

Was not any 110 octane fuel around to run in the bike...didnt want to spray it using Nutec or 93 pump gas.

Have to wait two weeks to go back again...perhaps Ill get froggy and put the 40 jet in it

It's been said that the 16 front increases chain wear and is in more of a bind but that was with the stock rear (I believe). Is the sacifice the same as with the 17/47 or 17/48 as far as top speed? How much are you giving up?
Granted, I know that there are few public roads that allow you to see those kind of speeds and only a handful of people that will actually push it there. Even fewer that will do it all the time. I don't drag but I want the acceleration.

I am very curious about this 16/44 gearing...I have already bought a longer chain to extend my wheelbase and run the 17/48 combo.
What will I be giving up if I change back to the stock chain and run the 16/44 combo???

I am going to measure my wheelbase before and after the 16/44 swap..... Will let you know how much wheelbase I gain...... I figure Rickey Gadson and being connected with Muzzy wouldn't waste his time with this combo if it didn't work well or put things in a bind.... Thats just MY opinion....
