16/44 combo... Anyone here run it???????

Rickey G said he was running 16/44 on the 02 12 which comes to 2.75..... I was wondering about swingarm clearence with the 16 tooth.... Would it have to be lowered bikes only to clear???? The reason for 16/44 longer wheelbase. Any of you guys run it on the street??? Any thoughts on this from you guys and girl.......OOps sorry Ang done it again...LOL LOL LoL bet your used to it though... Probably a very old joke....

16/44

uioYes, I have run this combo for at least 8000 miles. No problems what so ever...swingarm clearance, sprocket wear, chain wear.....etc. With stock chain u will use all of the swingarms travel, which is good. I ran my best time with the combo...9.69 at 148.7mph with a stock arm. Bike stays on ground pretty good. Hadd enough low end pull to keep up and it damn sure would come on up top. Always runs 146-148.7. I bought a Trac swing arm and changed gearing to 17/48...dont think I like it. To much gearing for the street, and seemed harder to launch...very wheely prone even with swing arm. I think I will check my clearances and I might go back with what worked. Im sure that 17/48 will work for some, but I dont leave that hard yet...do my best work at the other end of the track if u know what I mean. Great 60 foot times are one thing...but nothing beats blowing by someone in the traps while peeling the paint off their bike.

rawdog, how much do you weigh?? I tip the scales at around 210 lbs and don't know if this gearing will work for me but have been thinking about trying it.

Wouldn't see why it wouldn't work for you its lower geared than stock...... 18/46 is a 2.55 gear... 17/46 is a 2.70 which I am running now at body weight of 265.... The 16/44 is even lower than that at a 2.75 gear... The bigger the number the lower the gear.....

I'm not sure Fish haven't run it yet..... As I am big I will never see top end anyway.... I just like spanking things quickly from stop light to soplight or whatever comes up..... With the 17/46 I'm running I believe 4500 at 70MPH.... Thats at the 2.70 ratio Will post as soon as sprockets come in.......

Weight

I weigh about 185-180, matters if I took a shit or not. Bike seems to run great up top. Only real problem I have with this combo is that u are losing about 2/10's of a mile, for every mile you rack up. Meaning that every mile u travel, the odometer is raking up 1.2 miles. Guess it doesnt matter if u are planning not to sell bike, but u never know. I have run alot of combinations, but this one seems to be the best on the street and the track for me and my style at this time. Coming thru the traps near the top of fourth gear.

You need one of those lil yellow boxes. Doug at Spencer sells them for 119? or so. Recalibrates your speedometer to its true reading. Easy to istall and with a GPS you can be spot on!

I ran MY best #s with stock swingarm with 16/45!!!
You won't be pulling 4th gear revs high enough in the 1/4 with the 44 IMO...
