Where did I say multiple crankcases all over the world?

I was referring to a single 2000 comparo in which the magazine itself reported that.

It doesn't seem you really have the info on all this.

So then that had nothing to do with the Busa beating the 12 in every 2000 mag comparo?

It had to do with at least one test.

There weren't that many tests you know. Weren't there only two major mags, same as now? Maybe three if you count Sport Rider. I don't remember any comparo of theirs but maybe there was one. Not too interested whether there was or wasn't.

And it would NOT be surprising -- no "conspiracy theory" whatsoever -- if all bikes provided were prepped to the same spec. That would at most be a handful of bikes if even that, not "all over the world."

Kawasaki screwed up PR-wise, no doubt. They had a bike that was on the street a little faster than the Busa, but failed to get that demonstrated in the magazines, and further failed to respond to Suzuki's having proved the 194-mph ringer bike the year before.

Anyhow, this is EXTREMELY old news, and as they say, old news is just so exciting!

You are welcome to it from this point on.

Argue magazine results from 1999 and 2000 all you want... the rest of us care what our bikes do on the road or track today and have done over the years we've had them. That, stock Busa owners, or piped Busa owners vs piped 12 owners, just don't like to talk about too much, not in comparison with the faster 12.

Buh-bye now! No offense but you're beating a long-dead horse and that loses interest real quick.

I love this thread.
I don't know that there ever is going to be the answer that satisfies guys like you pmk.
But you realize that that DM has offered you the answer himself? I mean what else you need, the damn Easter Bunny to hop over to your house? How fast did he go on a stock ( with pipe) ZX-12? How many passes you think he has on a ZX-12? Knock, Knock.

It also seems that the tests by the mags were done on different days, time of year, and different conditions. In every side by side test the busa got the fuzzy end of the lollipop. Oh and if you look closely they used the one test for both mags, considering that they were both owned by the same company. That is one the reasons that more than one mag reported overfilling, the other is that the bike gets passed on from mag to mag. Yet another is the amount of oil was incorrecty stated by Kawasaki.

You know, in a weird way I'm sort of glad the ZX12R never got hyped up. I'm glad it's underestimated and unsung....

think about it.... The Hayabusa is a victim of its own success. Because it's lauded as "the worlds fastest bike" it's been exaggerated beyond belief to the point that it's become a mythical creature of biblical proportions. This attracted all the newbies, posers, bling-blingers, etc... making it the parking lot racer's weapon of choice.

Ask yourselves thes questions:

"Would you enjoy your ZX12R as much if EVERYONE had the same bike?"
"Would you rather go up against another 12R or a Busa?"
"Would you rather be underestimated or overestimated?

I love this topic. On Mach 3, the 12 was always hurting ever so in the corners - why - because the stock suspension was not set up. Once set up the preload front and rear, the 12 would not be overtaken in the corners. As for straight line, no one to date will ever make a better Ram Air ever again - unless it looks like the 12s. The b series pulled better Dyno numbers because it is static. Move both bikes through the air at speed and the 00-01 ram air setup is superior.
Hear is one for you all -

Take the wires going to/from the gear selector switch that are gear number Four(4), Five (5), and (6) and cut them and splice all three wires into gear number Three(3) wire. This will make the ECU think its in THIRD GEAR whenever gear 4,5,or 6 is choosen.

Tell me what happens...............:-)

:-) Thanks Ra12r. That was one of the first mods way back in the summer of 00. Remember I run an A/F monitor and a PC3r.
While I am spilling my guts here, here is another one. If any of you have the balls, when you get into six after redline 5th with 18/44 geariing, lift your ASS out of the seat and slide back six inches, if any of you can relate, its like hitting then going throught the sound bearer. :-) You have to remember I am not overly small.
Last one - for now, the 00 mirrors were given no credit. They where designed in a wind tunnel. Want proof, fold them in and take a look from the side!!!!!! Probably generate a bit of down force to boot.

I may be wrong on this -- I thought his 192 in the standing 0.9 mile, which isn't enough room to reach full top speed, was stone stock? And with pipe his figure was more like 199?

I would guess that the implication is that the final spark timing number changes.

We can all watch our O2 sensors at any gear in any speed but the timing eludes us. We put numbers into a PCIIIR and declare it 'good', that's about it.

Anyone buying what I'm selling? lol! Sounds like a damn TRE unit for a Busa.

If there was NEVER a busa, would there be any talk of the 12r being neutered?

Even Harleys are restricted from the factory, so what?

Does anyone actually believe that KAWK does not send out ringers to the bike mags and their usual Super Tuners? Is anyone's bike going to run the same as the magazine tested bikes?
