Bad Injector
Anyone ever encounter a bad injector? My 03 12 is not running right and I suspect a bad injector.I checked the stick coil with an ohm meter and I have swapped the stick coil with the adjacent cylinder. What kind of symptoms point to a bad injector?

You would have an FI light flashing if the injector had an electrical failure.
You can check for a clogged or sticky solenoid by popping your Air Box caps. Then unplug the harness at the rail on the TPS side. It's just underneath the main harness behind the cylinders. Now use a 9V battery and put the - on the white wire w/ red tracer and + on the lead to the respective injector. "Tap" each lead on each injector and you should hear a "Click".
Observe down each intake with the throttle plates open. With pressure in the fuel system, you should be able to see fuel spray out of each injector as you "Tap" it.

No FI light and I can hear the injector clicking with the bike running(screwdriver to the ear technique)the mis was intermittant now its all the time....I was guessing the injector is hung open..is this possible?

Pull the plugs. Read who is running fat/lean? I wouldn't tear down the fuel system before throwing a simple set of spark plugs at it. It could be that simple.
If the injector was acting up, I would assume the mist is a spray and this would be constant. You mentioned the miss is all the time now. Before it was intermittent. Sounds more like a spark plug going south? Say you installed a new set of plugs...
If this were my bike, I'd pull the injector bank, turn the key on (hot), and crank the engine over. I'd then look to see the sprays are equal, and are spraying in a mist. If there was a clogged injector, I'd dip the tip in fuel "type" solvent like choke cleaner. I'd then purge/repeat dipping the injectors again until the mist reoccurs.
Bottom line is always a compression test before starting a teardown/v-adjustment.

Speedgene, the #3 plug is wet all others look good.I pulled the plug and stick coil, plugged it in and grounded the plug and when I cranked the plug fired.Have you seen a spark plug that refused to fire?If so I would gladly change the plugs. The bike sat in the winter with a trickle charger on it.I started it every 2-3 weeks,on my 1 st ride it had an intermittant mis. After I pulled the plug and dried it off and cleaned it the mis became steady.

I took Speedgene's advice and bought a set of plugs.Changed out the set and now the bike runs fine....in all my experience as an auto mechanic I have seen maybe 1 plug that appeared good but would create a mis fire like I had, apperently keeping it simple saved me some hassles.I spoke to a friend at a local bike shop and he said he has seen plugs go bad...you learn something new every day,Thanks Speedgene!

Damn, imagine if someone would have taken their 12 to a dealer or shop and the only problem was 1 plug...
That plug would have cost $200 and a week in the shop...Unless the mechanic is dishonest and it could have cost thousands, for a motor rebuild!!!
