Y2K;
Have you addressed your Air screws on the TB's??
My 1270 really smoothed out (on/off throttle transitions) when the air bleeds were set to 2.5 turns out. I would not be suprised if yours now needed 3 turns or so. Of course, you will want to add some fuel with that
Also, will you have the injectors cleaned before mapping?

quote: Here is a question for you all, should you stroke a 12 if you are going to spray 80-120 shot?
Smart money says no,
Only 10 more hp for less reliabity, and a extra $1000.
Very easy to make that up in spray.
That said some still choose to go that route.

Bossman, sorry i have not gotten back with ya. Stroking and nos should not be a problem.
It should give ya some nice off the line grunt and then just hit the juice to push ya on top.
I do believe there are quite a few running 100 wet shots without problems. I do believe
Entropy's monster will start to swill some juice soon. Shoot Entropy or Mad Mike a PM
and see what they have to say. Entropy knows a good place to get a top quality and very economical 60mm stroke.

But, if ya got a bad journal and your bike is apart might as well opt for al little Grunt
down low. Price for stroker crank as of 2/24/06 : $743.94 welded 4.6mm, micro-polished, ion-nitrided, straighten, and dynamic balanced, and shipped with insurance!!!!

I can see it both ways and I guess money and what you are using the bike for will determine what to do. I am learning not to stroke, I have the ECU mod and a stroker will not rev. I will be drag racing only so other than getting it off the line the NOS should do the rest.

Entropy's stroker revs real nice as I believe he has an extended rev limiter, Give JC a
PM also and see what they have to say. Especially since it'll mainly be a track bike.
Buddy also has a 1375 with spray. I'd be more scared about how thin those cylider
walls are, but you have proven me wrong running as much nos without having any problems. It is ultimatley up to you, I'll hold ontop that crank till you decide so no
worries. Ya might also want to check and see how much it would be to just clean
up the journal.

Psycho, I have them all set to 2.5 turns out but I havent synchronized the throttle blades yet. They were good last year so i doubt they are very far off.
Yea, I may send the injectors out before mapping, we'll see.

quote: True 24v would work, but is it needed once the engine is broken in? Have you gone back to 12v to see if its still needed?
How did you get 24v? Two 12v in series or a 24v battery?
Are you retarding the timing at cranking speeds? That should help also.
yep, on my motor it's needed, and is the most satisfying "mod" i've done.
I tried everything to get get my motor to start when hot, ign timing, cam timing, bigger batt cables, new starter, even put a 15# gel cell in parallel with the stock batt (batt box in the extended arm). Things helped a wee bit, no cure.
Then i finally went to 24V starting like all the Busa guys at the track had been saying since the day I went to a stroker. Hot starting problems vanished!
Get 24V on the starting circuit by simply getting a lil 3-4# gel cell and putting it in series with the main batt. Take the cable which goes to the starter and attach it to the neg terminal of the lil gel; get another cable and run it from gel + to the starter. Add a pig tail for a charger to the lil gel and yr done. Since the lil gel is out of the charging circuit it must be charged separately.

Thanks Entropy, I'll have to do that. Its too bad someone doesnt make a 12/24v battery with a terminal coming off from half the cells. This way both halves can be charged from the bikes alternator and supply 12v to the bikes electrical system and take the starter cable off the 24v end of the battery.
I think the culpret is the rings. They have alot more friction than the stock sized rings. They are much thicker and have more static tension.

That's why the Muzzy 1270 is so nice. Same thin rings as a stocker!

Yeah, Entropy has the special rings developed by
NASA down by where he lives, they are so thin you
can't even see them.

i really don't know why you couldn't take the bike's charging circuit and hook it to the aux batt with a switch so that you could isolate the aux batt from the charging system during starting, then hit the switch and charge it while the bike is running??? why wouldn't that work???
i don't know shit about electricty, nope.

Entropy check out the post office they have priority boxes that are a fixed rated no
mater how much you stuff in or how much it weighs for under $9. It might be cheaper
since them chains aren't light. Shoot me a PM with your "Hotel" address in Mo City and
the price for the chain, so I can shoot ya a little coin. I do not know if you have a stock arm
or are going to use one for the Texas Mile in October but I'll have the one off my bike if ya need it. I should have my head back in from getting a little cool coat on it next week and just
a few more odds and ends to the build starts. Shoot me a PM also and tell me a little about the furture juice application/setup( VP C23+, propane, ceramic coats, ect.), as I am very interested.

Thanks Mike, It was one of those deals where I wanted the battery right now so I could be done with that problem instantly. I needed to ride the bike that evening. Ya know how that is.
I love riding this bike again. Its like having that new bike fealing. Yet your still very familiar with the bike as a whole.
But yea i know, the local guys are always more than the net.
