to y2k regarding software and others...
I was reading that the 04 zx10r has a combustion chamber volume of 21.2cc.. The ZX12R is rated at only 18cc ( the hayabusa also).. How does this work? Does it have something to do with the intake valve diameter or other factors.. The zx12r have almost identical strokes and almost identical cam configurations.. But the 10r seems to have a more efficienct power band.. Is there software I can buy that can help me come up with an intake valve size that can be beneficial.. thanks to the board..

There are many software products on the market for simulating engines etc. Some are beter than others. some are a joke.
The ones I have and use are dyno 2000, performance trends, and dynomation.
Dynomation is the only one that is really suited for development work. Its far better than the others. As far as the 10r having a more "efficient" power band? What does "efficient" mean?
The intake valve sizes are not an issue so far in the data I'm running on the 1375 combo.
The exhaust port is much more of a problem.
What are you looking to do to your engine?

oh, as for the 10r chambers? i havent seen the inside of a 10r. The piston may have a dome?

Y2K,
you gonna share what the problem is with the 12's exh ports, or is it something that took a bunch of development, and you (rightfully) wanna hold back on a competitive advantage.
I'm putting my 1427 motor back together, and now would be a good time to do something interesting with the exh ports...

I'll let you know when I "fix" them. Right now I'm still looking at the whole picture.

The 10R makes more horsepower pound for pound than our beloved 12r.. Similar peak horsepower, similar stroke, similar cams, more combustion chamber volume 21.2cc vs 18cc, and .5 points more compression.. Is the 10r motor simply more advanced better porting valve job...
whats the deal with this..

And any of the 600's make more power cc per cc than the 10r.
The new r6 is claimed to make 133 hp. so 1200 cc should make 266 hp? nope. Its easyier to fill a 150cc cylinder then a 300 cc cyl. Not all physics are scalable. The mass of the air doesnt change, just how much you need to move in the same given time does.
The 10r wont make more hp than the zx12r at any given rpm. It would need to be reved higher to actually surpass the 12r in outright hp. no matter how you slice it, 1.67 cfm makes 1 hp. Dont get hung up on chamber volumes. Chamber volume doesnt dictate compression or power in it self.
From what i've seen you wont get more than low 180's for hp with a stock cammed and displacement zx12r no matter what cam timing you try. I've removed the base shim also and thats worth about 1/2 a point of compression.
Hope this helps.

Information does help indeed. I was just reading on Brockracing website.. With his sidewinder Megaphone exhaust made 189.5 std at the wheel. His baseline run was 162.6.. Somebody please double check my eyes and make I read this right.. Bike also made over 100 foot pounds of torque... Probably no need to go in my motor if these numbers are easily attainable keeping the correction factor in mind. This combination will smoke your average joe..
