I'm going, but...

I haven't figure out where I'll be staying yet.

I'll be leaving Little Rock on the 11th, so I'll be there for 8 nights. Though the folks at the Alcoa Holiday Inn were super nice last May (especially house keeping), I can't afford spending over $600 for a bed and shower.

Hey Ninjaman, aren't you and your "cabin bitch" Harry, staying at TWO? Are ya'll doin' a cabin, a lodge or doing the "tent thing"?

If ya'll are stayin' there, I can hang at the lodge (don't do the "tent thing" anymore), it'd be about $200~$320 for the whole week. The two problems are that I better get my reservation in this week (if they're still a bed available) and that it's so far from Alcoa. I think it's almost 200 MILES!

Help me dude, what are you doing?

Yeah and it's just too far from the ACTION

I don't think I'd survive with THAT group either! After that video of me getting smoked by that SV650 (on the RIGHT side) and chased by Kyle Petty dressed as a scoccer mom in a Ford Aerostar (also on tape)... it's probably best I stay in the Alcoa area. At least that way, I could at least deny it ever happened (and conviently forget to bring my copy of the tape!).

Hey Dave

Have you gotten an estimate yet???? Are you gonna do the wrenching, or let a shop fix it????? Do you think the forks and frame are ok?

I believe you could easily have it ready for the trip unless you've tweaked the frame or something. I'd bet you're ok though. From the pics it looked as if it stayed on it's right side sliding, and didn't do a lot of tumbling or anything.

What about you, you mending ok?

Last numbers I had from the shop was $6,400 and counting but I just talked to the adjuster and he says it's worse than that. He thinks the forks are bent and the radiator will need to be replaced too so it will be a total. I should know by this afternoon what they're going to do, we'll see.

Just a thought....

Dave, see if you can work something out where they total the bike, give you a new one, and you keep the old one. Might be easier than you think.

AN idea to help Red Elk.

Seeing as it just wouldn't be the same without Red Elk at Gap 3, I propose the following: if several people could volunteer to put the old boy up for one night in thier room, he could stay for a lot less. I know some will be there on wednesday or thursday. It sounds as if Red is planning on coming in on Sunday or Monday. He's only have to pay for a room for the first 2 or 3 nights until someone got there to let him share the first night...then he could move on to another volunteer the next and so on until he was ready to leave.
As far as I know, I will be there Thursday through Sunday. I volunteer to share one of those nights. Anyone else wanna step up and help a fellow rider?
I hope you don't take offense Sherm, I'm just trying to help. I woldn't want to see you miss the fun..
