My thoughts on Vincent

Well I see I've been called out on the faster thread by my brother in debate Vincent. Many of you may know that Vincent and I have had quite a few squabbles over the past 4-5 years about race. I am going to explain now my thoughts on Vincent and his posting about race on this board some may like it, some may not.

I'd have to say that because of the debates he and I have had I have learned a great deal about him, and because of the things he has said about me and my family I would say without a doubt that I would welcome him into my home in a heartbeat. I don't think he is a racist but I do think he needs to consider his company when he makes his comments. He grew up in a different time than most of us and experienced things we haven't. He is most certainly proud of his heritage and I commend him for that. In the post about the black motorcrosser he is proud of the rider not only because his skills but because he is black and making in a sport that really has no top guys that are black. I think that's great. Where Vincent goes wrong in my view is that he seems to think WE need to be reminded and told how great it is that this fella is black. What he is failing to understand here is that this community on this board is made of really really good guys who in my estimation don't look at things in black and white. I mean look at Ted's post, he's not just saying that, he truly doesn't care if a guy is black or white. Vincents view is that we SHOULD care because of the great accomplishments hard working black people have made, so he will almost always make a post about the race in these threads. I used to put a smackdown post on him in the past when he did this and that always led to a heated argument that no one won, it's a non winner event in my view and I refuse to do that anymore with him because now I understand his reasons for doing so and who the hell am I to put any kind of damper on his pride?

What I do hope, is that in time he will come to understand that when the people on this board open a thread like the faster thread they ARE thinking "wow, that's kick ass! this fella crushed his competitors and he IS black, I don't think that's happened in Motorcross before. Good for him" Cause that is exactly what I thought when I read the opening post. I don't have a huge interest in motorcross anymore so I never entered into the discussion. But what Vincent needs to understand is that probably ALL of the fella on this board who opened this thread thought the same thing I did. We ARE recognizing it Vinny, we are and some poeple here get offended when you feel you have to remind them to recognize it. Make any sense? Some poeple here are offended that you think they NEED to be educated about it when they really don't.

I'll take Rick as an example, he is a redneck from the south, talks funny and all that. He is the perfect stereotype of the kind of people blacks despise because of the past in the south. But you know what Rick is NO A RACIST at all, he is an equal opportunity hater. As in he'll hate you and kick your ass if your a dunbass, not a black or white dumbass, just a plain ol' dumbass. He will also do ANYTHING for you, balck or white, if you are a good man and deserve it. Same as myself. He commented about your bringing race up because he is offended that you think he NEEDS to hear about it to recognize it. He doesn't need to hear it Vinny, he sees it for himself, all the guys here do. We find it insulting that you think so little of us that we have to be told "hey he's black and making in a white sport, give him his DUE!" We are giving him his due Vincent.

Have a little more faith in the community here brother and you won't feel that we need to be taught everytime a thread like this pops up.

And of course if ever make your way to Detroit I insist you come stay with me and my family and we'll drink some beers and debate our REAL differences, politics cause you sure do need a teaching on that!

Chris you cracker motherfucker!!!!!! I'm gonna beat your ass for calling me a redneck and sayin' I talk funny!!!!!!! Where I come from everyone speaks this way.

Honest injun, I've been on both sides of the fence with this deal. Where I was born there were zero blacks, and I heard many negative things about blacks. But even as a child I payed no mind to it, and I guess I owe that to my mom, the most loving soul I know. I've always done things my way. How many kids that were raised in a Baptist church, Southern Baptist at that, had the nerve to question god, religion, the whole concept of being saved, and going to church @ 10 years of age??? Not many I bet. I was vocal to my family and my preacher about it. I thought it was a load of horseshit then, and I think it's a load of horseshit now, biggest fuckin' fairy tale that has ever been written. I didn't fall victim to the brain washing about religion, nor did I fall victim to the brainwashing that ALL black folks were sorry assed lazy walfare recipients that hated white folks.

I know sorry assed mexicans, whites, and blacks that I wouldn't piss on if they were on fire. But I also know plenty that are damned good people. I don't judge people by their color, religious beliefs, how much money they do or do not have, or a host of other shit that some people do indeed judge people on. To me everyone is a good person until they do something to prove me wrong. Treat me right, I treat you right, that's the way it ought to be.

I think Vinny is a damned good fella, in his post he comes across as a real nice guy. I'd do anything I could to help the guy. I just wish he didn't see things in black and white. But I still respect him no matter what.

This is coming from a whitebread redneck that was raised in the south. Hell there may even be some Klan members related to me!!!

Good to know Mike, and though I've never met you, I've heard nothing but good things about you. Harry says you are a great guy, and if Harry says that then I take it as fact. Even though he is a sorry hippy bastard, he is one of my best friends, and I trust what he says.

AMEN Otis! WOW! It is scary when someone takes the time to really tell it like it is! Because of exactly what you said, I am making this statement. Unless it is a situation of a Racist nature, I will leave Black and white out of it.

Truth be told, most of you are lucky and blessed to not know or care about what I talk about because you never saw it or lived it and that is a good thing.

For Mad Mike the notation "Fear the Black Flag!!!" I leave this comment. AT Elkhart Lake (Road America) Wisconsin I got Black Flagged in Error because the flagman was told to black flag the next rider over the Hill. Problem was, I passed the rider they really wanted to flag. I was in 13th place at the time in an AMA SUperbike race and in the money. That errant flag cost me my position and I finished 21. I gave the Tower the FInger on the next lap standing in the pegs in front of the Grand Stands and after the race went the the Podium and raised Hell. RIght then and there, the AMA Changed the Rules to state that a Pit Board must also have the RIders Number that is getting the flag. They never did make it right for me and cost be about $300 which was a lot at that time. I also stated that they might as well thrown a WHite Flag for me with a few Holes in it!

Thanks for your time Otis and yes I would enjoy your company and most people enjoy mine (Most of the time)

SOme words I take very seriously, My Apology to the Members of this Board for causing the Rukus on something that we all enjoyed seeing. (Specially me!)

I was a LOT Younger then and they were not televising the event otherwise "I" WOuld have gotten into trouble myself but at the time I did not care. Also not having the talent of Rossi, I had to hold on with 1 hand while I gassed and jumped my bike up and down. (Also could have lost control and then what a fool )

Serious good people on this Board like Otis and Mad Mike (What a Name for a person like he is)

I forgot to add that "Only my Grandmother ever called me VINNY and I smiled about it!" A man named Pottiger used to call me Vinny and when he would not stop I had to call him "Potty" in front of his friends and he then understood! I OK when used Sparringly

So I guess I can't call you Vinny anymore eh?

I can relate though, as only my mother and grandmother are allowed to call me "Ricky".
Anyone else does it and I'll slash their friggin' throat with my old timer.

I've never met Vince, or any of you actually, but by spending so much time here with you I can see what a good bunch we have.
Whenever I see promos for the Worlds Fastest Indian movie, I think of that old SOB Vince, tryin' to go faster, and faster. That's pretty cool I think, since I've never even met him.

The Best Friend I ever Had and grew up with I am helping him get up to speed with a few things like a COmputer and Digital Camera. Someone at my church said, "How do I get on this list" so I told him that he had to be a life long friend and grow up with me. He thought for a minute and said, "Your friend is being underpaid"!! You are being under Paid Otis for this one Thank you!

Ninjaman,

Leave Otis alone, at least he has 80! In 1967 I applied at Aetna Finance for a job and the FIrst thing he said was " We do not discriminate because we have 2 working for us, one in Chicago and the other one is in Los Angeles." See this is a lot larger company but only "2" so 80 is great! Maybe that is how he gained insite into my thinking and got "Educated"

IMHO the only time race should be mentioned is when they are being discriminated against because of their race, black, white, green, or purple. I admire Vincent very much because of his accomplishments, and the barriers he had to overcome. He should be proud of himself. Many of us have had barriers, mine was severe poverty and foster homes. But that is behind me and seldom think about it.
Yes racism is an ongoing plague, but in this community (Bikeland) I am proud to be of the opinion that is does NOT exist. The only thing important about color is the fact that green is the fastest..
